Now, apparently, they can hang a wire around the city….. They inspect the wire each week to make sure it’s not broken before the Sabbath. Because if it’s broken, they are screwed

Sounds like Entergy could recruit new hires.

So if someone surreptitiously snips the wire in a hidden location, all the Jews are instantaneously doing evil things?

I wonder how much that pays.

Does this also include concealed carry?

I’m not a church. Not saying churches have to help the community and people in need, but they would be a lot cooler if they did.

My gf, and by proxy myself, have a section of this eruv that we inspect each week. Usually on Thursdays.

Metry has one too

What does the wire look like? Is it up high like phone wire?

There are very complex rules for how/what is condidered. I won't even pretend to know them all. Things like the levee (think lakefront in Metry) count. Long unbroken fences (think the fence along I-10) and then barriers like the wall along Tchoup.

Then, as far as the wires themselves the Entergy transmission lines somehow count. Not sure if there is linen thread or something like that. So obviously you would know if those were down.

However, there are rules that you can't just have a concrete or metal pole. So wooden boards/sticks are attacked to certain poles where the wire changes direction or transitions.

In New York City, there is actual linen string in some places/neighborhood depending on need.

One of the boards/sticks

The great Rabbi Yochanan Rivkin of Congregation Anshe Sfard was the force behind the effort to construct the eruv in New Orleans along with his brother Rabbi Mendel Rivkin of the Uptown Chabad House and an acknowledged rabbinic authority steeped in eruv construction, Rabbi Sholom Shuchat.

I dated two Jewesses during my NOLA days - one lived on Rosa Park and they had the coolest private swimming pool I've ever seen. another was a law student at Tulane. Both lived within the eruv (if it existed in 2005-2010)

Haha. Looks like someone who would be an expert on bending the rules.

“Ackchyually, God, we were not breaking your rules … you see, there was this wire ….”

But doesn’t God see them bending the rules and knows it’s BS?

Why do they think God would excuse "evil" because they put up a cloth wire? I wouldn't think God would be that easily tricked.

Married women must wear wigs or cover their hair.

After a woman menstruates, she must get a religious bath, dipping her whole body and hair in, and wait for 7 days to be clean for her husband (I believe a woman is most fertile at this point)

No meat and dairy in the same meal

Ovens have a Sabboth

Mikveh. One located at Tulane.

Other oddities I have learned. Have to have the marriage consumation witnessed. No mirrors or live music for a year after a close death. Sabbath mode for elevators, automatic doors, fridges.

So can Jewish dudes hunt and fish? Cause I usually carry stuff to and from the boat, atv truck, etc. When hunting and fishing on Saturday and Sunday.

Seems like a stupid interpretation of a law/rule. As long as you are carrying something you enjoy and not doing it for profit, its OK. I doubt God wanted to frick up folks weekends, just stop working and appreciate creation and fellowship...
