NOTHING wrong with a good ol Casio. I had several in high school including my favorite; this bad boy that played the Russian national anthem
with the music notes dancing along with 12 other countries national anthems.
then later on i bought this and thought i was so clever wearing it in math class when i had a test

I had a few of those Coke rugby shirts, probably purchased at Goudchaux’s. The shirts had rubber buttons.

That's the one I had, too.
Nice and minimalistic.

Yep, the rubber buttons. And who could forget Goudchaux's ?
One of the roads leading to the mall off of Johnston St. is still named Goudchaux Rd. DH Holmes was the other store that had 'expensive' clothing back then. DH Holmes had Lacoste apparel. If you wanted Polo (Ralph Lauren) you had to go to Abdalla's or Partner's. For those Swatch watches no one had more than Pieces of Eight in the Oil Center

I can't believe I found a picture, but I had this one with various bands and guards:

I had a couple. I remember having the plaid one and this one. I'm still not sure who Keith Haring is, but the watch was cool back then.

During that era, when Coke shirts were cool, my parents could only afford a knock-off Pepsi shirt

My child could wear kids size Saints jerseys to games in college
But also my parents would have bought a swatch watch for birthday or Christmas. That was not a "just because" purchase. I was an adult before I realized we weren't poor my parents are just super frugal

This site does make me purchase things occasionally. After reading the thread initially, I did a little shopping at eBay. Just won an “adult” Swatch that I’ll actually wear. Like to get Obtuse1 back in here to tell me I’m stupid.
Sorry I missed it yesterday. For under $55 tax and all if it is something you will wear it is a good deal and I like it personally. It is apparently new in box with a new battery and runs and you probably paid less than it was new. The only thing you should be aware of is quartz movements experience what is called quartz drift so it won't be as precise as when it was new IME over 20 years most of them see about a doubling of their initial error. It is probably within 30-40 seconds a month, and it may be much better. That really is a non-issue you just may want to reset it every couple of months.
Inexpensive watches almost always provide more smiles per dollar than more expensive watches, I have a 24 watch box almost filled with under $200 watches, most were under $100. Some I built, Some I modded, and some are worn as is but I like all of them and some of them I really love. Vintage and neo-vintage Swatch watches are an excellent way to relive some nostalgia, have some fun and not break the bank.

I saw that when I was looking for a picture. Insane! I don’t, but may have to go to moms house and rummage around!
