No way were my parents dumb enough to let 16-17 year old me go to beach alone for a week with a few baws.

When I was that age the parents knew we would be drinking with it without them. We usually had a few stay in a rented house just to make sure nobody died or anything. They would go out to dinner and do their own thing, not like we were really being watched

I usually worked construction during my week "off". Needed that extra dough. I'll never forget my junior year, me and my high school age cousin carried and stacked 2-1/2 18-wheeler loads of Sheetrock from outside to inside a hospital job. That included some lead-lined rock. I thought my hands were going to be permanently bent in a J shape. It'll make you appreciate staying in school and making good grades, that's for sure. It also taught me not to believe my dad when he said he had the perfect job for me to do.

Senior year my parents allowed me four days of Mardi Gras and Spring Break. Looking back it was pretty insane.

When I was in high school our Spring Breaks were usually loaded with baseball games and practice that week. When that wasn't going on I would end up doing work at the farm.

We did make several weekend trips to places by ourselves though.

When we went on spring break my last year in college there were a bunch of high school kids from up north down for spring break alone. I didn’t know that was a thing. My parents would never have let me do that in high school

Spent a week staying at a place in PCB called The Barney Gray with a bunch of friends. Had a drunken blast. Came home and a couple days later reported to the MEPS station

Sounds like my senior trip. Spent a week drunk at the Sandpiper Beacon humping a different chick every day, and came back with a tattoo that I don't remember getting. Our "chaperone" was great. I at least waited till after July 4th to report to MEPS though.

You weren’t there the summer of 88 were you? My then girlfriend stayed there with her friends right after I shipped out to Knox. After basic when I shipped out for Germany she sent me the Dear John letter. Turns out she had “met someone” while on vacation. So much for her wearing that yellow ribbon.

Nah. I couldn’t afford it, and my parents weren’t about to pay for a week of heavy drinking and whoring.

It’s a term. It’s doesn't mean to literally get on a ship. I actually flew on a Northwest two prop commuter plane. Flew out of Montgomery to Louisville, KY with a stop in Nashville on the way.

It’s amazing that I can remember things that from 30 years ago but can’t recall what I ate for dinner two days ago.

PCB senior year. Almost got arrested 2nd night there. Cops raided our room 3rd night and made us our 60+ cases of Natty down the drain. Ran out of money on 4th night.

Yeah. A friend told me that Jody was a bartender at some joint down there in PCB. She thought she was “in love”. He even came up to north Alabama and lived off her stupid arse for a while. At least until her parents found out she was letting Jody live in the apartment they were paying for while she was in college.
