did. Approximately 1000 years ago. The last person to turn it was supposed to be your favorite person and turn it the opposite direction of everyone else to “lock it”. It was dumb. (My now-husband/then-boyfriend “locked” mine, fwiw.)

Must be something that's part of a certain creed or nationality's way of doing things.

People buy HS rings still? Round here kids get a shotgun or something for graduating.

Good thing I didn't get one of those as a gift at that age. Just speaking for myself, I get that some people are compassionate, empathetic and responsible.

Yep. Broke up a few times, but eventually married. We are damned sweet.

Yes. The ring company gave us a numbered brochure that everyone had to sign when they turned it, and the very last person, who was extra special like a significant other, "locked it", maybe turning it the opposite direction?

Did y’all have a senior ring turning tradition at your school?

Our only tradition was labeling someone with a class ring as a douche.

Even when I was in HS had this notion that graduation rings, engagement rings, wedding rings, etc was a scam created by jewelry companies. I probably heard my daddy say some shite like that at one point. Anyway, plus.. once you got to college it wasn't cool to wear HS graduation rings or letterman jackets so I figured if I got one, at the most I'd wear it for about a year then put it somewhere I would probably end up forgetting..

What other traditions did y’all have besides turning your ring 1/2 way around and slapping the freshmen on top their heads?

This was a thing that they really cracked down on my junior year for whatever year. Im sure some pussy's mom raised hell to the school board or something. I remember some senior I didn't know did it to me and I called him a punk bitch. He told me I was brave, but not brave enough to say it again and I said "You are a punk bitch" really slow and while I was saying it a teacher was passing by and he walked away.

I went ask one of my friends who was a senior who the dude was. Evidently he was some fricking jackass who fricked with people he thought he could frick with because he always got fricked with. My friend evidently didn't like him and just took advantage of an opportunity to go frick with him. He told him if he ever did that to me again he would shove his stupid fricking ring down his throat. The next day I saw him in the hall talking with some girls and when I passed I said "Like I said... You are a punk bitch and you aint going to do shite about it".

I cashed that gold in years ago when gold was high. I don’t remember how much it cost but I got $500 for it at a local jewelry store.
