Well built, low maintenance, great warranty, holds resale value better than 95% of other cars on the road. Low insurance rates.

A real mystery indeed.

Once you get one, the thirst to suck dicks will be insatiable.

I work for a Subaru dealership in Louisiana and I was like man these cars are ugly but over time I’ve slowly thought about getting one because of my discount and being able to get parts cheap as well as labor rate for maintenance. I’m fighting the urge though!

They are exceptionally well-engineered cars. Effectively the modern Volvo.

I would own one if I were in a position where I felt I would not want or need a truck on occasion since I pretty much don't care what anyone else thinks. But I never feel like I wouldn't want a truck or trucklike vehicle. I tried to talk my wife into one but she hates the way most of them look

You sound like you are projecting a bit. Or looking for an excuse for your insatiable desires.

He was the one fretting about getting one. I assumed he was scared of the ghey. It's a vehicle not a sex change.

AWD is great for me - my driveway is 1,000 feet of sand that can be tricky when dry. It pulls my boat up the ramp easily. I like exploring the back roads around and they are in pretty bad shape. The back bed of my Outback is long enough to sleep in when I go on road trips. It's easy to throw a kayak in the back or strap on top. A reliable car is important, there are no auto shops within 20 miles. Good gas mileage compared to a truck.

I'm seeing more and more on the road now, Gulf coast.

The single most important quality of a vehicle is reliability and Subaru is up there with the best of them.

Sounds like there was some truth to the Southern marketing strategy.

If you buy a Subaru, you get some boxed wine, Birkenstocks, and a 3-pack of flannel shirts for free.

I find it hilarious that Subaru's are associated with lesbians. I have no idea how it came about but it is hilarious.

I'd say that is tied with Safety and Gas mileage. My mom would freak out if I got anything smaller than an SUV or Truck. It's basic physics. Mass x Velocity. Whose ever is higher wins the wreck.

I care more about living another 50 years than my vehicle breaking down at 125,000 vs 175,000 miles. Over an entire human's lifespan, it is highly likely they will be in at least 1 big wreck.

An SUV (or vehicle that weighs at least 2 metric tons aka 4,400 lbs) that lasts 175,000 miles and gets 20+ mpg is a perfect vehicle to me. Not sure what fits that description, but if anyone has a suggestion I'd like to hear.
