My daughter actually went into the settings to enlarge the keyboard to normal size. It helped some. But is still awful and just inserts random words. I miss my old 8 plus.

Just having the masses be the test cases for all this supposed software intellect.

Aaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiii.

Also the more complicated your subject matter the less auto complete actually works.

I’m guessing the software has mastered texts relating to simps texting their shorty or boo for butt pics.

Always hitting the damn emoji button now for some strange reason. Don’t believe I ever did that before last update.

I think autocorrect in general has gotten worse with time.

Same here.. and my 24yr daughter complains of it too. Harder to type w/o mistakes and also, words being autocorrected inappropriately... such as 'They were at the house' being turned into 'They we're at the house'.

Worse than mistyping is trying to move the damn cursor to the word that needs correcting. I can move the cursor anywhere but where I need to.

fricking Apple bullshite somebody came up with to sound like they are improving the iPhone.

Yeah like how I can’t access my fricking alarms app without unlocking and opening my phone. Dumbest shite ever. In what way is that more helpful?

Add into that the idiocy of their Calculator app recently (although they recently fixed that).

Slide texting is worse. Apple’s slide texting predictability is fricking terrible.

You can access clock/alarm without unlocking. Swipe from upper right corner or up from middle bottom to get a quick access menu thingy... you'll find the flashlight there, clock, alarms, wifi, cell, blutooth, etc. The alarm one looks like a bell.

It has been awful with iOS 18. Some extremely weird autocorrects and predictions, but also ones that aggressively change too many words around the main autocorrect or manual correction. Sometimes even though the verb tense or whether word should be plural or not should be obvious based on other words in sentence it can take until almost typing 2nd to last letter for the correct form of a word to pop up to choose. Goes thru ones that make no sense first. Similarly the prediction or autocorrect can overwrite with the incorrect version of a word. Sometimes a word can be one letter off, and it offers nothing.

Tired of typing white people or black people to have it autocorrected to white peoples and black peoples. I force the lower case “b” with text replacement under keyboard settings or capitalizing black would be happening as well. I guess I need to do the same with people/peoples.

I am not using AI for corrections, so it’s just the standard autocorrects and predictions.

I think keypad touch accuracy is off some as well as it can take multiple attempts at shifting finger over to have correct letter get typed at times. I am also using an older phone in need of an update, but this got worse with iOS betas over the summer than it was with iOS 17.

This is bad as well. I often see it in correct place only to lift finger up to have it slide elsewhere. It isn’t momentum or moving finger in that direction while lifting thumb doing this. Sometimes I have to dismiss keyboard and try again to get it right.

I also don’t think the rules for tapping to select a word, sentence, or paragraph are always followed. If I want to fine tune a search in browser by adding word or replacing one or more it can get frustrating.

I totally believe it. My old iPhone 11 died about 6 months ago so I went to get a new one. Got the 15 Pro. It’s bigger and a little harder to handle, which probably accounts for some of the problem, but I immediately noticed I was making typos all day every day. Way more than before. I thought maybe I’m just getting old and my dexterity is slipping. It’s irritating.

Incorrect.

I know what the alarm app widget looks like. I used it all the time. I’m saying now when you swipe down to get the shortcut menu (when locked) and hit the alarm widget, it no longer opens directly. Now I have to enter my code to unlock the phone in order to use it. Thus my gripe.

On my iPad... if I go to settings > Touch ID and Passcode, there is a submenu in there of what you can allow access to when it is locked. One option, that was somehow toggled off for me, is Control Center- which unless I am mistaken, is where the clock/timer/alarm icon is.

I get your gripe- I friggin hate the changes in updates, apparently errbody does. I hope you can figure out how to get to your alarms without having to passcode the phone.

I can access control center when locked. But you can’t use the alarm app anymore without unlocking.

I appreciate you trying to help, but I feel like you aren’t reading my posts at all.

I’ve googled this and tons of people are pissed about it. It’s a complete step backwards and nobody really understands why this would be in an update.

It’s not you. Apple crams so much capability (crap) on these phones that it interferes with it being a phone.

Barely move your finger off axis the functions go off in left field.

Trying to zoom in on a photo attachment involves having to navigate a bunch of notations ( haha, Love etc) and generating irritation.
