paid $35 for rotor and $20 for pads for each side on my 4runner, total was $110 befor tax.
they are the exact same part numbers used for both vehicles, yes you paid too much, but thats the average price they will charge for a job like that.
its something you can do yourself in 20 minutes. they even have step by step videos showing you how on youtube

So you claim to not know what a good price is, but also know you paid 40% of what another place offered to do it for?
What am I missing? Or are you just proud of the price and don't have anyone else to tell?

They always say the rotors are bad so they can add more to the costs.
You could have put pads on for $45.00 in about an hour

Yeah dude. I’m bragging online about only getting ripped off a little.
Don’t be such a dweeb

Probably more along the lines of, "Man, I saved momma $600. I need to tell someone, but in a nonchalant kinda way."

Gotta keep that inheritance intact. The cut-rate brake job just increases the chances he'll get it sooner.

My mechanic slept with my first wife. I’d love to have your problem.
Considering that she probably got half your shite. Most expensive brakes ever.

Rotors alone at autozone can be like 70 a piece. You throw in the pads and stuff you're close to 200 for parts.
PepBoys 2 weeks ago and got a set of rotors and brake pads for my 06 Chevy Silverado 1500 for $107. Did the job myself in a little over an hour in my driveway including cleanup.
Not sure what vehicle the OP has but it sounds high to me, but then again, I hardly ever go to mechanics and do as much of the work on my vehicles as I can.

20 minutes, not possible, It takes longer than that to get out the jack, other tools, get the car on jack stands, and remove one tire. Add in a problem like a seized lug nut and you could be in for a long hot miserable project.

It depends on the quality of the parts.
If you NEEDED rotors and he got high quality ones with high quality pads, then you did not overpay.
However, most of us do not drive hard enough to appreciate the performance quality of rotors or pads.
You could have done it cheaper of course but chose not to. no big deal.

Yeah, but I work in the real world and do know what I'm doing, have the tools and desire to do it right.
No way in hell he gets that job done in 20 minutes. And if he somehow, miraculously did, I'd not want to drive that vehicle.

Buy that stuff online and do it yourself. Easily 1/2 that cost. 1.5 - 2 hours even watching a utube video
