rotors alone average $200 plus labor.

Why would you change rotors only?

And to the guy who says you can do it for under $100, I need to know where you buy parts.

Assuming he charged for 2 hours of labor 400 isn't too far off.

Hopefully parts were more, because two hours for labor is ridiculous for just the rear

Some rotors are expensive though. I want to say a coworkers 4runner rotors were 125 each

I've done my own brakes(just pads and rotors) on various vehicles over the years from a 98 corolla to 05 Sequioa. 1/4 chance some shite goes wrong and you need some shite you ain't got at the house. Find a good fair place(K&M in BR for example) and let them do it.

He said pads, not shoes. Rotors, not drums. And it is brakes, not breaks. And it is too, not to.

Well of course buying OEM from the manufacturer will cost more. I'm just saying he could have done it himself for under $100 if he wanted to.

Great, now I'm getting suggestions to buy rear rotors for a 2010 Sequoia all over my TD margins.

Man most of the new cars are easy if its just the pads. But I am not sure what could go wrong or need something. brakes and rotors are about the least tool intensive jobs on a car, as far as needing numerous variations. Ive been doing brake jobs with the same socket, wrench, and torx sets, and just a big C clamp for a long time

Doesn't take me 2 hrs in my driveway with a single jack. Shouldn't take a mechanic more than 45 minutes max in and out the door.

Probably takes longer to fool with jack, stands and wheels than actual job, when doing it yourself

What kind of shite econobox do you drive that costs under $100 to replace the rotors and pads on 2 disc brakes?

EDIT: For reference, 2 sets of pads and 2 rotors at Autozone for the front of a 1999 Toyota Tercel will cost you $83.98.

I have a 2012 Sequoia and change the front rotors and all pads last year.

Just the parts were $228 I'd say that wasn't a bad price.

It should have taken him around 1 to 1.5hrs to do it. It took me two and had to learn as I went.

Brakes are usually about $150. Then rotors plus labor for another $250.

Not out of line, IMO.

IN what world? Two rotors and two sets of pads for the front of my 2000 Jeep wrangler were a little over $200.00 with tax at Pep Boys, the cheapest I could find locally?
