Yes you were overcharged, but not by much.
Usually 350

Absolutely got fleeced. 98% chance you didn't need rotors.
May have not needed rotors but there's a very good chance they would have needed to be turned to true them up and flatten them.
I changed mine recently even though I still had a bit of brake pad left and no gouges in the rotors for obvious damage, but my vehicle was pulsing when going to a stop and that indicated the rotors needed to at least be turned.
With down time to take the rotors off, take them to an auto shop or machine shop to have it done and going back to get them to re-install them, it was easier for me to buy new rotors. Turning rotors runs about $20 a pop and I got 2 new rotors and brake pads for $107 out the door for my 06 Silverado.

It should have taken him around 1 to 1.5hrs to do it. It took me two and had to learn as I went.
Most repair shops use book time, not clock time. So if the labor guide is 2.0 and it takes 1.5 or 3.5 the customer is billed 2.0.

About to replace all four on my truck and it is going to cost me $300 for parts alone to do it myself. For just the rear you need to figure in labor. This is where you think they are “getting” you. Just had tranny work done truck while on vacation. $80 part $700 labor. Its just what it is if you dont do it yourself.

Learn to do stuff yourself or overpay for it while you work. That is just the way of the world, little lady.

Just replaced pads and rotors front and back on my truck...came in just under $300 for parts...shop I normally go to wanted $850.

Nope, not at all. You got by fine. Labor is about $100 an hour, throw in parts and shop supplies.

You could have gone to O Reilly's and got a pair for about $50.. And put them on yourself.

Buy that stuff online
Why buy it online when you can go to the store and have it that day?

IN what world? Two rotors and two sets of pads for the front of my 2000 Jeep wrangler were a little over $200.00 with tax at Pep Boys, the cheapest I could find locally?
Rotors for a TJ are like 35 bucks each at Autozone. Pads are 21.99. So 91.99 plus tax. Lifetime warranty on pads. Haven't bought pads for my Jeep in 17 years! I hope Autozone stays in business 4eva. My whole Jeep is nearly under warranty.
Even less of you Rockauto.com. use them for sensors and other non lifetime warranty items.
