According to him, their conversation was fairly long on the subject and she serious.

Then tell him to get a GF and see how that goes.

Depending on the openness of the couple, she may very well be serious. We aren't all cut from the same cloth.

On one had, I doubt she literally met for him to go get a girlfriend. It was probably just something that was said out of emotion.

On the other, there could be something behind it. If yall been friends for 30 or so years, then you should be able to say shite like that. He might have gotten pissed because he might have realized there might be some truth to it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Tell him you didn't mean to come off the way you did, but your first thought was just that she was willing to give him a pass because she was trying to compensate for something.

I walked in after he left and told Mrs Donkeypunch about the conversation. She told me that I had crossed the line.

This hit close to home for Mrs Donkepunch and she became critical because she's cheating too. Sorry.

I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum. Great friends can pretty much say whatever comes to mind w/o offending the other. I think it actually speaks to their closeness that they can speak so freely and juvenile with one another.

I also think OP reads the OT too much to say something like that.

You need friends with thicker skin. He was bitching about his wife's constant bitching and told you what she said looking for your opinion. You gave him your opinion. You're probably not far off from the truth or she wants an excuse to fool around on your friend.

Oh, about crossing the line, I still don't think you did but at first for some reason got the wives confused. Your wife's opinion is just based on how she'd feel if your friend said that about her. I don't really see where line's should be drawn in the first place talking logic though. Women are creatures of emotion

Maybe you were a little abrasive, but you didn't cross the line.

You could’ve delivered that a lot differently and come across a lot less trashy, but trash gonna trash

Yup bc you spoke in certainties and speculation instead of knowing she was getting boned. Holler at him and apologize. He’s your friend and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to lose a friend over something you’d literally say to someone on tOT in jest.

Getting out there in her guts? That’s a weird way of putting it. Aside from that I agree with you and your assessment and don’t think you were over the line

She is, or wants to cheat. Probably should have phrased it better.

I had a cousin that I was semi close to about to get married to a crack whore. After i met his fiance he asked me what I thought of her. I said I think you are marrying a crack whore. He didn't invite me to the wedding and I didn't talk to him for about 6 months. He called me out of nowhere and said you were right...i married a crack whore.

Women are intuitive and just wired differently. In her anger of them not getting along she threw it out there- 'why don't you get a GF', not because she is cheating, but most likely she was going for his reaction. She maybe sensed something and was allotting him to fess up or see if he says, No, I don't want a GF.

Or she is cheating, but I doubt it.
