I only have 2 30+ year friends, don't think that said among an-y combo of us would set anybody off, but then they are my very best friends, not just someone I have known a long time.

You've never had a significant other say or ask something completely irrational not expecting you to actually believe her?

Not sure why some of you automatically assume the wife is cheating. Maybe the friend let himself go and she doesn't want to have sex with him because he weighs 300lbs. Maybe she works full-time and is raising 3 kids, so is overwhelmed and sex is the last thing on her mind. Maybe the friend and his wife are having money or family health issues. Maybe the friend is a porno freak and the wife is tired of being objectified. The point being that there are a multitude of reasons for why she said that.

Regardless, the OP is lucky he didn't get his jaw broken. If they have been friends for 30 years then I assume they are at least in their 40's, the couple has been married for 10+ years and is probably friends with the wife as well. That's not how you talk about a friend's wife or your friend. Save those responses for random chicks on the quad.

The OP's response was ignorant and immature. He is either a very disrespectful person or is trying to impress the OT frat boys. Furthermore, I would suspect that the friendship will be forever tarnished, especially if the friend told his wife that his/their good buddy thinks she is having her "guts sprayed".
