You would have thought I discovered relativity when I started grouping utensils in the baskets so you didn’t have to sort them when you take them out.

I never do that because inevitably the forks and spoons stack together and then don't get fully cleaned. I intentionally separate them all in the dishwasher now, and always upright so the use end gets the full spray.

Weird, all advertisements would have me believe all men are retarded, yet real life is a different story.

My MIL will leave big chucks of food debris on the dishes when loading. As if they will magically disintegrate in the washer. She also puts spoons together, like inside each other, so that water can’t get between each one.

Your steak knives must be dull AF if you are regularly putting them in the dishwasher. Further, dishwasher instructions usually tell you to put the utensils facing up (forks up at least) .The utensil baskets are often designed that way “.

Prewash dishes, then place cups, bottles, and glasses on top, plates down below grouped by size and facing inward from each side, utensils facing up except for knives, bowls and larger pans/platters on the outskirts. Wash dishes every night and empty dishwasher every morning.

This is the way.

Mine had the same issue of loading knifes tip up. I told her it would be easier to buy a new basket then get stitches. Her concern was damaging the basket.

Every time i notice how its loaded I rearrange it and I'm looked at like I'm some kind of a-hole .

Same here. Mrs. Rabbit refuses to learn the proper way. She's a stickler for cleaning, clothes washing, bed making, etc. But the dishwasher is like a house of mirrors for her. She's lost. Just throw stuff in any old way.

Wait. Are we talking butter knives or sharp knives?

Knifes with an edge should ALWAYS be handwashed.
If not you're dulling them constantly.

Though yes serrated and steak knifes if you're too lazy to spend 5 seconds each washing them go point down.

I have dated women who were good at loading a dishwasher and women who were bad at it. I have had male roommates that were good at it and roommates that were bad at it. I don’t think the knowledge of what should be put where and how to fit as much stuff as possible while everything gets cleaned without being melted is inherent to one sex or the other. The common denominator seems to be having a parent that made them do chores growing up and taught them how to do it.

She is correct in doing this. They don't get clean if they are tine down in the basket.

Well... To be perfectly fair about this

I screw up laundry so my wife said "I'll do the laundry". I just presume she is doing the same to me with the dishes. And it works out every one is ok with the arrangements

Dishwasher, trunk of a car, and so forth and so on. Everything looks bigger to them than it really is, thankfully.
