I remember being in a Protestant church. My parents gave me a gift actually for taking a vow of chastity.

Everyone in the church was confessing as like 7th graders to all their drug use, etc.

What’s the point of waiting? It seems ridiculous.

Sexual relationships are emotionally, mentally, and physically complicated relationships. They should only be made under the protection and safety of marriage.

So many of our communal social ills, not to mention individual cases of depression and anxiety, are a result of sex being viewed as something insignificant, without the need to be entered under the covenant of marriage.

Would you buy a shoe without trying it on?

It’s biochemically not much different than chocolate...

Fun sizes would have been better to setup for that disappointment

When did you finally tell the congregation about coming out of the closet?

That’s their point of view on LGBTQ.

Then it’s “sin”. Then the institution of marriage becomes a ring can’t cover a hole.

What's the point of caring about what other people do in church if you are not ever going to be forced to join it? It seems ridiculous.

Some people handle snakes and shite. I don't care about that either.

I order most of my shoes online, and usually keep them even if they’re a little uncomfortable. That sort of describes my relationships, so maybe you’re on to something.

Anyway, I did not go to a church that pushed abstinence. I still waited til I was 20 to have sex, but that was because I was shy & awkward.

Not sure if serious

Vast majority of society’s issues with single moms and kids with no dads in their lives would completely go away if sex was taken seriously and confined to marriage. Wouldn’t eliminate them all together but they would be such a smaller percentage.

How many wives do you have? And do you throw them away on a regular basis?

I participated and waited. It was fine. Got married at 20 and still married 16 years later.

I’m not going to push that belief on anybody and sometimes I “regret” not smashing around in college for the fun aspect but I was working 60 hour weeks and going to school full time anyways.

I sincerely don’t judge anybody for not having my beliefs or not waiting, but you’re fooling yourself if you don’t think abstinence has some benefits. I get it’s not realistic for most people.

I will say that if I was a Christian and back in the game again at this age, and dating a woman my age, I would struggle to wait if I thought I was going to get married again.

You baws smash away. I really don’t judge, I am just glad I don’t have any drama from my past with that.
