Did anybody else else seem to think there were less Salvation Army bellringers this year?

Not sure if its just this area, but I didn’t see a single bell ringer this season at any grocery store or pharmacy
Maybe community service is being assigned other ways these days

Now that you mention it, I didn’t see a single one. But I barely went to any retail outlet. Did all my shopping on Amazon.

With fewer and fewer people carrying cash let alone coins, the bellringers probably bring in so little now.

This is a common Mandela Effect. Many people online profess memories of people standing outside retail stores ringing bells with a collection can. The prevailing explanation is that is just a common thing in many Christmas movies.

Yeah they are usually outside of Wal Mart every year, but don’t think I saw them this year

I saw one in the usual place around here. I don’t give to them anymore since they hate white people.

I only saw one this year at our grocery store. They definitely weren't there all Christmas season.

Not sure if you’re serious, but Salvation Army bell ringers outside store entrances have been ubiquitous with Christmas shopping for decades. Certainly much more than just Christmas movies.
I only made one in-person shopping trip this year, and I didn’t see any.

quote:On a related note I learned that some of them are actually paid hourly. My son decided to volunteer for them this year and after the first week they said he did so well that they put him on payroll for the last three weeks. I had always assumed it was 100% volunteer (court ordered or not).

Saw one at the publix by me pretty much all season. But I didn’t see one at any other Publix I went to

This. Was always my mom's favorite charity but in the last few years they've become extremely woke and couldn't resist telling white people they're all racist. I stopped giving them anything.

At 16 I was ‘ordered’ to do 10 hours of community service. First choice was the humane society but they didn’t need me.
Next up, SA…I made sure to go to a store far from home as I was embarrassed.
I dreaded it…but actually witnessed real generosity. In my late 20’s I did a couple years of real volunteer work days with the kettle. Dressed up and all and not ordered.

With my donation of pocket change, I always make sure to also apologize for my whiteness.
