What type of cancer does he have again? Lung?

Sorry to hear y'all are going through difficult times still, but glad your dad is continuing to be tough and fight for his life.

Yea small cell lung cancer. He was already in stage 3B when diagnosed 19 months ago. No way he should still be here.

I am so sorry to hear this. My wife lost her mother to pancreatic cancer. We do work with the Walter Reed Foundation here in Bham in her honor.

Unfortunately, 90% of patients diagnosed with this die within the year of diagnosis. I highly advise you to make peace with anything you have outstanding and any financial considerations you may have.

God Bless you and your family.

I know it sounds looney but you gotta start a hardcore juicing plan. The lady we bought our dogs from has become a good friend of ours over the years and she had a cancer where there was no hope, something wrapped around the stem of her brain. She was a former nurse and refused to give up and began a really intense juicing plan and she did the impossible and the cancer was gone. I dont have the email anymore with her story but I just remember enzymes before every meal and lots and lots of vegetable juices. I dont think it was a coincidence her cancer went away.

Good luck man ill say a prayer for you

I hear ya. I saw a copy of my moms original PET scan and it was basically cancer all over her abdominal cavity. Like seriously, all over.

After only 4 out of 6 very strong chemo treatments (which she had minimal side effects from) her PET scan was already 100% clear and was marked as "in remission". She still finished out the last 2 chemo treatments since it was part of the original plan.

Roger you were reading my mind! I saw a show on Chena and thought that was where I wanted to go. That is definitely going to be my destination!

Thanks for refreshing my memory on the name.

Thanks CS - I have been contemplating going to MD Anderson. Everything just happened so fast - still trying to absorb everything.

Jesus, I bet.

Can't say anything negative about MD Anderson. They understand it is a different world now and work WITH patients more I believe. If a Whipple is an option? By all means, cut it out.

Cancer cells divide pretty damned slowly. Try EVERYTHING. Everything that doesn't cost money. Clean diet and clean living.

I had a friend who beat stage 3 breast CA... Once. She was adamant about not having surgery. Body is a temple kind of shite. She beat it with diet and vitamin therapy. It came back and she foolishly did nothing. Could have had a mastectomy, but did not. It got to spine and she was gone soon after.

Diet can do a lot of things. Don't let somebody force chemo and misery down your throat to eek out 2-3 more months. Try to get an honest discussion started. Don't let family put you through misery either.

Don't let a test or any numbers tell you how YOU FEEL. If you're having a good day, it's a good day. Chemo side effects will take some of those days away. So make sure chemo is gonna help.

So damned sorry.

Curious, how did they find it? There is no early detection for p cancer. Sucks, really sucks with all the years of research and no closer to a cure than we were in 1969.

So sorry to hear...I have a close family member who had a recurrence of myeloma(sp) this week after seemingly having beaten it a couple of years ago. She was rushed to Arkansas for some experimental medication but things just don't sound good. I would like to take this opportunity to send prayers to both you and her and both families as well as I know this taxes so many who love and care for you!

By the way, if LSU beats Bama next week, I will think about you and hope that it brightens your day a bit which will in turn brighten mine...best wishes, God bless!

A cycle of chemo may make your cancer resectable (at major academic centers with skilled hepatobiliary surgeons) and put you on a track you don't want to be on, where you end up too far down the treatment tunnel and feel like you can't turn back.

The surgeons wanted to open me up and gut me like a fish. I would have been on a permanent feeding tube living in a nursing home.

I visited the first surgeon twice and his assistant tried to browbeat me into accepting surgery. The assistant got very upset when I told him "no". He said I was wasting his time.

My third surgeon visit was to a different surgeon. He read my records and teared up. He said he could not help me. I told him I never wanted surgery. That was 2 years ago and I am still living alone and taking care of myself.

I have listed several experiences (including my other post) that I think others need to be aware of so they can make intelligent logical (not emotional) decisions.

Other than a couple of incidents, I have received world class care. My tumor was 3.5 times the largest tumor listed on their life expectancy charts!

Every day I wake up, I have beat the odds.

It was really odd. Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy because of stomach pains doctor who swore it was gastritis and I kept insisting my back was killing me and I thought it was not gastritis. Everything came out fine with both colonoscopy and endoscopy then two days later had white stools (sorry for being gross). Also noticed jaundice beginning. Called my doctor and next thing I know all kinds of tests and blood work. My bile ducts were clogged and the bile was backing up in my liver. The tumor was what was blocking the bile ducts.
No symptoms whatever prior to that.

Not looney at all.

My dad has juiced carrots hardcore and cut out as much sugar as possible.

Not sure if it helps but it's one of those why not things. Juicing carrots seems to be a popular option amongst many that claim to have healed themselves. Throw in a granny smith apple or two to help with the taste, though.
