A possible solution is to hire an architect as a consultant. Agree that both of you will go along with his/her suggestions. Make the architect the bad guy.

You and SFP should have a lot in common.

He’s reportedly slow but still a pro at it.

Think you're exhausted now, wait until mid construction and the change orders start showing up.

Something, something, she should only be concerned with the kitchen, the laundry room, and the sex room.

Dude, I feel your pain. My wife wants to remodel the kitchen, two baths, the patio (add a outdoor kitchen), add plantation shutters and upgrade all the moldings, and retexture/paint walls and refloor the house.

This. Is. Not. Fun.

Left to do it on my own, it would be awesome, half the price and no headaches or disagreements to deal with.

I feel your pain.

She wants the living room and kitchen in the center And the bedrooms aren’t getting smaller and than they are drawn

Easy fix. Change the scale in the drawing……

Instantly make everything smaller……

Added bonus: everything else will appear bigger in perspective…..

Thread texted to my sister/your wife. Better build a dog house, cause that's where you'll be sleeping.

Try to get all the square footage under roof now that you will need for the future. Five or ten years from now you will thank me. Much more expensive to add a room.

She should be grateful she has a husband, isn’t homeless, and has the luxury of having a custom home being built. Not everyone has those blessings.

She doesn’t understand that making a room in the middle of house bigger makes the square footage jump by a large margin

Not if you shrink what is around it.
