The HLN hacks are awful. Can’t wait for to have to describe the defense witnesses.

Reminder, this is the AG whose office is prosecuting this case:

quote:Helpful, but unnecessary. The ME's findings and autopsy ruled out asphyxiation or suffocation or any such trauma at Chauvin's hand.
If defense can prove that he was doing as trained and he was following his training regardless of the outcome, then he walks.
quote:Agreed. It's already been done.
Furthermore, if it can be proven, even just a little, that he may have died as a result of being on drugs etc, then defense walks.
quote:Disagree. He'll sue the tits off of the city, country and state and live happy and free somewhere else, as he should.
Eithe way, that mans life is over forever. Someone will take him out

Unfortunately Chauvin will have to have security and waych his back forever if he is found not guilty. There will be thugs everywhere wanting the rep of being the one that killed him.

What planet do you live on exactly? They literally paid off his family before this silly case even went to trial.

Because they know the outcome.

quote:I have been thinking of this differently recently. Might the argument be made that this large settlement was actually helpful to the defense? Hear me out. What I mean is that the settlement might reflect an admission by the county that the training provided to officers led to this and, therefore, was not the intent of one person?

I agree with this. I think the payoff was made because Chauvin's action were in line with the manual and they know it.

Can the defense bring this up? I mean the settlement part, not the protocol part.

With no admission of guilt? Doubtful because they would be admitting that their very own rule book was outdated....or worse yet, dangerous.
I am still shell-shocked that they paid that off, but everyone knows why - they wanted sympathy to be able to roast Chauvin as in that would somehow help in the jury box.

The defense is 100% going to bring in the protocol but they can't use an opinion on why they think it was paid.

I think every news channel is reporting the same... I know court tv is noticeably pro prosecution. That's the one I've been watching. I take out my earbuds during the commentary its so bad.
I'm watching the Washington Post Youtube stream. No commentary.
