How does the jury verdict work. Do they decide. Then bring it in immediately. I want to make sure I’m prepared to watch it.

Yes, I'm expecting a decision by Thursday

What are the logistics specifically? Like do they just call the lawyers and chauvin and bring them in immediately and they all drop what they’re doing or do they schedule it for the next day?

They call everyone in as soon as the Jury let's the judge know they have reached a decision.

The lawyers / Chauvin will get like a 15-30 minute heads up to head back in to the courthouse.

Obviously a quick verdict is guilty and the longer it goes the better for Chauvin, right?

So what should we do to make sure we are alerted when this all happens?

I agree.

I don’t envy cops, they have a tough job that’s almost near impossible in some parts of the country now.

This is one of BLM's primary objectives. They want black people to be able to commit crime with no repercussions, and making police officers quit their jobs or hesitate to do their jobs is the easiest way to accomplish this.

I remember where I was when the OJ verdict came down ... patient room at Our Lady of the Lake.

Guess I'll remember this one too.

SLU Union. We were hanging out outside smoking cigarettes and everyone came running out the dining food court area. Blacks were celebrating and whooping and hollering, whites were disgusted.

I knew the verdict just by their reaction. I don’t remember expecting it to be announced but I wasn’t all that concerned with current affairs at that time in my life.

Barry Brodd (the defenses use of force expert) had his former home targeted. People left a severed pigs head and painted pigs blood all over the house.

if the defense wanted it... think they could get a mistrial tomorrow morning due to Maxine Waters' very public statement demanding a guilty verdict or else more rioting... esp. considering she has the weight of being a US Representative behind her words?

Poli Board thread on her statements

quote:

California Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) flew to Minnesota this weekend, where she joined protesters in Brooklyn Center past curfew and urged them to 'get more confrontational' just one day after peaceful demonstrations devolved into violence.

"We're looking for a guilty verdict" in regards to former police officer Derek Chauvin, who is on trial for the death of George Floyd, a black man who died while in police custody last year. "And we’re looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd, if nothing does not happen, then we know that we’ve got to not only stay in the street, but we’ve got to fight for justice."

Maxine Waters and her supporters want more of a system that they think cannot fairly apply justice.

Which is so dumb because I think most would agree Chauvin did everything by the books until the final ~2 minutes. He should’ve rendered aid as soon as he found out he didn’t have a pulse. That to me was the problem point. However, I’m not sure that even qualifies as manslaughter.
