The only thing in this situation that I can't understand is why the cop immediately pulled a gun when confronting Floyd in his car.

B/c he couldn't see floyd's right hand and floyd already wasn't following orders to put his hands on the wheel

I don't know why this is the response to my statement. I'm not even saying the officer was wrong for pulling out his gun I just can't tell from the body camera footage why it happened.

Thank you.
ETA: I've been in and out of meetings during the entire trial so I have to mute for extended periods of time. If that was a part of some of the camera footage shown or testimony given then I must have missed that portion of it.

Jesus at this guy talking on Court TV right now. Calling the 17 year old girl who videoed it as one of the most courageous people he has ever heard of.

Interesting that he said the court needs to do what it was intended to do and convict. I always thought the purpose of the court was to uncover the truth.

That's Floyd's uncle. I wonder why she didn't ask him why George's family didn't step in and help him with his drug problems. He had already Overdosed 3 times in just the last few years before the fatal 4th time.

Thanks, that makes sense why his comments were so praiseworthy for her. In addition to muting during meetings I almost always mute the Court TV people, because I already know what they are going to say, but hadn't seen that guy before so I unmuted to hear what he was saying. I shouldn't have.

So the prosecution spent a long time making the case that DC should’ve known that Floyd was under the influence and behaved differently than normal procedure for those who are sober. At least that seemed what they were doing. How does that not help the defense when it comes to the effects of drugs on the situation and on Floyd himself?

The thing I love about this chief is that he's been with the department since 89 and moved up the ladder, so you know he must have a lot of pride in that city and department.
BUT, he's about to see the department continue to dwindle in size, and crime in his city go up and up and up as they struggle to replace officers. Some day, probably within the next 5 years, he will look at how the police department and city deteriorated under his watch and the cities policies among other things, and it will hurt his soul tremendously. That will be glorious.

Should Chauvin be acquitted and there are riots, the panelists on HLN should be charged with inciting the riot.
They are cheerleaders not journalists.

It's actually pretty interesting as last week the prosecution seem to be trying to keep the direction on the " knee" now after the weekend it seems they know they can't get away from Floyd being on drugs and now are blaming the police for not helping him for his drug issue. Imo it shows the prosecution isn't sure of its case.

Nobody watches HLN, most forget it even exists.

And during the 30-40 minutes that it took him to recite his resume, he seemed to rapidly advance further up the ladder by consistent two year increments. I'm sure his double minority status had nothing to do with that.

As far as watching it on TV, that and CSpan are the only choices.

I agree, Reb. I only knew of guys like Cronkite, who just told the news, when I was growing up. The last 5 years has been an abuse of power.

Yea. It really seems like the State has switched their questioning to that Chauvin should have known Floyd was high out of his mind and handled it differently. So that even if he did die of a drug overdose it's still his fault.
