Prosecution can "bitch" Washington. Stakes higher in each of the subsequent cases.

After his conviction, which is why the statute says, "after being convicted...thereafter commits any subsequent felony within this state".

He hasn't been convicted of any felonies yet, so any of his past behavior shouldn't be subject to the habitual offender statute.

It probably won't matter given the nature of his charges and the jurisdictions (if he's convicted he'll get life for the 1st degree rapes), but, at best, he'd be a 3-time felon if he ever was released and could be bitched after that (which could get him life).

Explain this for the class, please.

Yeah the way that is written seems like you would have to commit and be convicted of the first felony and then commit a second felony and be convicted of that also.

Some national press on the 3rd rape charge for Washington:
quote:

"There are a lot of similarities that suggest a MO," Miller said. "It was the same bar, more than one man was involved, the use of alcoholic beverages being used and being separated from friends. … It suggests he preys on vulnerable women."

LINK
quote:

The victim said "no" and "stop" multiple times, according to the warrant, and then asked for a cup of water.

Washington allegedly brought her alcohol instead of water, which she said she didn't want.

Jones allegedly "grabbed her face and held her mouth open as Washington poured the drink down their throat," the warrant says, and continued having sex with her while Washington allegedly watched and then joined in by groping her.

Afterward, Washington allegedly apologized to the victim in a text message and claimed Jones grabbed Washington's hands to grope her, according to the warrant.

quote:

Jones and Washington were arrested and charged with first-degree rape.

Miller suspects the Livingston Parish case will be heard first.

The Livingston case is the rape of the 12 y.o.

It's starting to get hard to keep up with all of Kaivon's rape charges

Are there any more links to the car video? The WBRZ one has the reporter drowning out the voice of Washington or did the idiots edit the video?

Thanks

Sounds like it was edited, so the motive for that is if heard it would further incriminate the idiots. Why doesn`t the reporter question the editing of Washington?

No other links than the WBRZ.

A 'true crime YouTuber' created this summary of the case:

Is WBRZ getting first exclusive updates from the defense attorney?

Nak is the defense lawyers' mouthpiece, so he is getting the exclusives.

Has any news outlet questioned the editing of Washington in the video? Or tried to ask directly to the attorney?

Not a peep from wbrz on the grand jury. I would have thought Nakamoto would have some sort of scoop to deliver.

Just us here.

Feel free to represent TD as a press member and hurl questions at the lawyers. Likely tomorrow when grand jury is done.

Will see how it plays out.

Seems like the majority of people are convinced of the guys’ guilt here.

Question: Does anyone have the BAC of the males involved?

If the sex was indeed consensual, I think it’s very important to know if all parties were above the “legal” limit.

No, because they didn't take Madison to the sheriff substation about 1/2 a mile a way and get tested.

Instead they dumped her off in the rain because they'd already got their rocks off - leaving her to be killed by a passing car.

Doesn't matter what their BAC is because the law says what a "REASONABLE PERSON" would conclude about Madison (the victim's) condition.

Not 'what a drunk horny teenager rapist' would conclude...
