"If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present."

-Some philosopher baw or bawette. But the quote is profound.

Get more sunlight, exercise and something to look forward to.

Wait, I love drugs, but they wreck your life.

I got sober, happiness followed.

Well Said.

Join a healthy group. It dont have to be a group of depressed people. We were not made be alone. Get involved...serve your fellow man. Helping other people is very therapudic.

Get good sleep at night.

This can't be overstated. Without a decent night's sleep it can take all your energy just to grind though the next day and then you lack the excess energy to enjoy mental/emotionally distracting leisure time such as pursuing a new hobby.

Also, put your phone down, unplug, and set personal boundaries if you feel exhausted/anxious all the time.

That will be $140.

I’m in the middle of dealing with it. Wish I had an answer for you but thus far my approach has been “suck it the frick up”

I’m not doing well. For 19 years, i have taken medication and occasionally seen a therapist but it’s been rough lately.

I’d love to hear about others overcoming these dark times and how you manage it.
I had a huge business failure in 2007 with the crash. Changed my life financially for a time and the stress levels were off the charts. I took Paxil after seeing someone and it made me numb to everything. It was worse than the stress of the business failure. One day I started running and I never stopped. I trail run so its not really running per se. You have to really concentrate on your steps or you'll bust your teeth out. The mental focus and physical exertion daily was the potion for me. The big lesson for me is that life is good and its a big world out there to discover.

I take medicine, but on top of that. Getting in a regular routine (waking up at the same time/sleep at the same time) get on a workout routine (even if it is just jogging for 15 minutes a day, anything to get your heart rate up) most importantly, stop drinking. Alcohol is a depressant, if you have depression issues, drinking makes it significantly worse.

Not a cure, but may help: Get rid of negative stuff for a while. No depressing music, tv, books. Stop reading the news. Get off of social media. Get away from negative people. Consume positive psychology material books and podcasts. Wholesome books and tv.

Get 7-8 hours sleep, stop drinking in excess, start a gratitude journal, mindful meditation, social connections (spend time with friends and family that you like)

Exercise - eating well - praying - talking with people

Also enough sleep and enough down time where it’s just time for yourself

Find a hobby or something you enjoy, although motivating yourself might be difficult to actually do the thing - but just try
