Nice logic. You realize hunters like that dentist are doing far more to preserve the species than any of you internet virtue signallers ever have. He spent 100s of thousands on that hunt. Think about that and see if in your limited logical ability can you can figure out why.

Why would he post a pic like that knowing it was going to enrage the mob?

I guess that's why he did it, for the reaction but it seem to me if the thrill of the hunt is the motivation, then leave it at that. I wouldn't want the backlash.

While I find nothing wrong with what he did, I think this fellow should probably find himself a new hobby!

I’d like to see him on a show called “So you think you can kick a lion’s arse?”

Give me a doe over a buck any day. I haven't taken a buck in a decade in spite of seeing plenty of amazing racks. They taste like crap and you can't eat antlers . Deer are over populated here and taking does is whats needed.

I'm not a deer hunter so this may be a dumb questions, but why aren't does allowed to be killed more than they are? From the few hunts I've been on, if it's not Doe Day then we couldn't kill them so I take from that that it's only legal a day or two a year. Is that correct? Every damn deer I see as a driver is a doe. They're all over the place on Louisiana back roads. Shouldn't they at least get a Doe Week or something?

I'm friends with a girl that is a wild game photographer from here in BR and also runs a foundation centered around co-habitating with foxes in and around urban areas. Anyway, she leads guided trips to Africa to photograph these animals so she naturally leans towards the conservation side and she'll admit that while she doesn't understand why people take joy in killing animals they claim to love, hunters do more for conservation than any other group. She sees it first hand.

Don’t like that he hunted a legally protected animal,

I wish some of you would spend more time educating yourselves on how these hunts benefit protected wildlife. The money and culling of certain members of the species aids in increasing the population in the long term.

But they don't want to. People that oppose this kind of action don't care about facts. It's all emotion.

I am confused by this. In my area you are allowed one buck per season... but many does. Where do you live that limits the number of does?

No you are just ignorant due to the fact you have never traveled more than 10 miles away from the trailer you inherited, it's not your fault.

You see British papers use that pesky British currency in their articles.

Now you are no longer ignorant on the topic.

Or maybe, people like you should stop being sheep to the shepherd that is the media and do some reading yourself.

They are telling you what they want you to believe so you will be angry at this guy. People hunt these rams every year. With the information they've given us, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong here. Now, maybe it will come out later that the guy had no permit when he did this, or shot a ram in a location where he wasn't supposed to be hunting, but until that time, the only "crime" he's committed is being a big game hunter.

If his name wasn't tied to Cecil the Lion, this isn't a story.

I don't understand why somebody would want to shoot a lion or a threatened species but if people didn't hunt them they would likely be extinct. A lot of the revenue that funds anti poaching efforts comes from trophy hunters. They've put value on the life of the animal. You think some people in third world countries would let lions live around them killing their cattle if they weren't getting some paydays from it?
