In general, "conscious sedation" means you continue to breath on your own, while "general anesthesia" means a machine is doing the work of breathing for you.

So if you get an ET tube you gotta have an anesthesiologist? But a CRNA can do the LMA? How’s that work exactly?

Or a combo of either.

No, conscious sedation can sometimes be divided into conscious and twilight sedation. Conscious is like valium and nitrous oxide gas. Relaxed but able to follow commands. Twilight you can breathe on your own but unable to follow commands b/c you are mostly out. Thats what colonoscopies are.
*But both are technically conscious sedation

I often wonder where these misconceptions come from. Obviously this person knows SOMETHING about it, but seems to not know much.

Well it was done. They’re talking to me as the IV trickles from the CRNA.
One minute I’m there, the next they’re putting me in my wife’s car.
Could’ve sworn I had dreams.
Probably it’s more like an alien abduction.

Oxygen tubes in each and an IV. I assume he was a crna.
One moment we’re talking and next I was being wheeled out to the car.
I’m pretty sure I had dreams.
My face felt like stone and drinking water was a real challenge.

Is there an extra charge for that?

I love that surgery nap. Nothing better.

Oral surgeon deadened the area and gave me some gas to relax me. Ripped the tooth out, put in bone graph, sewed it up and I was back in my car in under 1.5 hrs on my way home.
Easy.
Easy.

Dude, I got a molar implant. They used novocain and it was no big deal. Man up.

Just had my back tooth removed a few months ago using just local. It wasn’t bad at all but they were able to remove it all in one piece within just a few seconds.

1% chance you have an anesthesiologist in the dental setting.
99% chance it’s a crna.
CRNA can do anything a doc can do.

I would suggest you make certain any of these drugs are administered by a licensed anesthesia provider. Most significant complication during dental anesthesia are airway in origin. Too shallow breathing or obstructed airways are not uncommon but handled routinely by trained anesthesia providers.
