Man, I don’t know about this one. Not that I have a whole lot of sympathy for her, but dudes that kill multiple people oftentimes get way less than this. I’m not sure what the answer is, but the difference in punishments for the same crimes can’t be so extreme based solely on the arbitrariness of which judge you happen to pull. Prayers to Mr. Broom’s family though.

He said it took into account a prior conviction Covington had for first-degree vehicular negligent injury and addiction problems.

This is obviously a pattern. Perhaps if the first judge would have been this harsh Mr. Broom would still be alive.

And no him not wearing a seat belt doesn't mitigate the fact that she was high AF and crashed into him.

He is equally to blame.

That is especially true in this case. You can’t just drive around Watson without expecting to encounter several women driving while doped up. It’s almost like blaming the lion for eating you when you are walking through the Savannah.

I agree with Napoleon. That's why you wear a seatbelt. You never know what can and will happen. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Not taking away from the elephant in the room that this girl was doped up while driving, but still...

I can guarantee you there's a large portion of people around here that will argue you saying how many people they know that "didn't die" because they weren't wearing their seatbelt.

Personal choice in my opinion but if you're not wearing one in a wreck that may or may not have killed you if you were I wouldn't expect them to throw the book at the person you got in a wreck with(excluding this situation)

This is the same town that dropped DUI charges against Alton Easterly because he was a big campaign contributor to Blaine Honeycutt. The piece of shite prosecutor even lied about Easterly being enrolled in a non existent pretrial intervention program. That court is a complete joke.

Napoleon said “equally” to blame. You believe that? Perhaps I’m odd, but I’m able to set some standard for allocating blame in instances like this. Repeat offender high on drugs seems like they would at least be slightly more to blame here. Maybe it’s just me.

What kind of mongoloid doesn’t wear a seatbelt?

I knew Brian and he was a really great dude. This is the question we all ask ourselves. Why the hell wasn't he wearing his damn seatbelt??? However that stupid crackhead Denham trash bitch hit him head on and from the looks of his car Im not sure it would have mattered.

What's trashier: Opiod Addiction or Not Wearing a Seat belt?

One is an addiction, the other is just sheer stupidity.

This is actually a hard one. Probably not wearing a seat belt when you have a wife and kids at home.

Agree. He was a hard working guy on his way to work and didn’t deserve to die:

To add to the sad story, I’m pretty sure his younger brother died of a heart attack late last year.

I know a drunk that killed someone and never served a day. His daddy provides for he and his children because drunk boy thinks he shouldn't have to work.

The standard is usually 5 years for vehicular negligent homicide when impaired, but that's without priors.

Very sad. Best to always assume there are impaired drivers out there. If this woman hadn't been a drug addict she probably would have been quite lovely and not have killed people.

You do realize that a lot of times when somebody uses the word "equally", it doesn't necessarily mean 50/50, right? It's a figure of speech.

I went to middle school with her.

She showed me her tits one day. I liked it.

Drugs are bad. She could have been a smoke show if she took care of herself.

No, dummy, I do not realize that. Equal means "the same".
