Anyone know anything about this place? Is it a cool place to visit? Comparable to Natchez MS or Natchitoches LA?

I've never trusted the name Demopolis. Just sounds pretentious and holier than thou.

That's a me problem, though. Likely has nothing to do with your situation.

Read this thread and looked up and saw a sign for Demopolis. Are you following me?

You wouldn't like Demopolis. You're clearly itching to live in a town that starts with "Natch".

I've only passed through it a few times, but unless you're going to hunt/fish I'm guessing the answer is no

Like the name of a Sims city.
I just don't trust it.

There’s a pretty good steak joint not too far from there but that’s about it.

One of my best friends from Junior College baseball lived there. His family had around 300 acres of land I would go there often to help around the farm to make a little spending money. We also hunted deer a good bit as well.

As far as the town it seems to be a nice place to raise a family but other than that nothing special to take a vacation to for damn sure..

I know a guy who owns a couple hundred thousand acres of timberland over there. He is as crazy as a shithouse rat.

A couple of decent BBQ places with pig topped trophies on the counter. One or two so-so restaurants, One a "red barn" don't know the name of the place, that had really good Thousand Island dressing.

Highway 80 runs through the middle of town and is a great place to get a speeding ticket. They do have a hospital, where people go to die. There is a lock on the Tombigbee River and So-So fishing. There are some pretty big deer in the area if you hunt

If you have never been depressed, Union Town, AL is just east of Demopolis. There is an annual Black Farm Party called "Foot Washing" close by, with music, dope, booze, women, etc. where you can buy, rent, or bargain for absolutely any sin or perversion you could ever imagine and many you never thought existed.

Nearby Faunsdale, AL has sort of a Biker Image, that is more talk than action, other than one weekend a year. The entire area is steeped in civil rights history.

Demopolis is in the "Black Belt" of Alabama. One of the most depressing places on earth.

I assume you might locate there to serve the nearby Paper Mill?

The "Big Town" close by is Selma, AL. The place where the tube would be inserted, should God want to give Alabama an enema.

I have tried to share all of the good things. If I forgot anything, I am sorry. We lived in Marion, Alabama (work) for a while, so my comments are based on first hand knowledge.

Oh, it definitely isn't Natchez, or Natchitoches. It isn't even Ferriday, LA. It is a definite step up from Marion, AL

Did you just throw a dart at a state of AL map and decide to go wherever it landed? That's about as random of a place as I've heard.

Anyway, I had a baseball tournament there when I was like 13. It doesn't register as one of the more fun venues we traveled to, so I'd probably stay away. We couldn't wait to get out out so we could head to the beach.
