I agree with the rest of your post but when that mall was completely open and in it's prime it provided at least 3500 jobs with all of the stores included.

Hasn't been close to that for 20 years.

That’s why he said when the mall was in its prime.
It was a huge economic engine.

Hopefully this new Amazon facility can match the impact Cortana had in its heyday with retail, movies, bars and restaurants all humming.

I was there today. Went to the dillards outlet. That and the freestanding Firestone on the far end of the parking lot were open. Everything else on the mall side was fenced off.

All the satellite shops looked to be open.

If I were a local grocery store chain, I'd plant a store right next door. It's a safe bet that a lot of those employees live in food deserts and that store might just end up being a goddamned gold mine. Plus, if you have a really good lunch counter within walking distance that doesn't require crossing Airline or Florida, that's just extra free money.

I wonder if I can get my hands on one of the old Dillard's door handles. Some of them still had the old faded Gaudchaux's 'G' on them.

Go down there and ask. Dillards is selling everything. Even their tables and clothes racks.

The door handles are still there.

It’s not a mall. It’s a tech incubator.

By that logic Cortana will live on as an Amazon DC.

Space Port for Video Games and then Mama Brava's for Pizza;

maybe swing by Spencer's on the way to Tom McCann Shoes.

Waited in line for an hour to buy a ticket for Star Wars.

I saw in the advocate that they've increased the size of the Amazon facility to 3.5 million Sq ft. It's definitely going to be massive.
