They can pay off my MasterCard while they’re at it.

I think there’s some issues with a system that encourages a 17 year old to take what may end up be the biggest loan of their life while simultaneously committing to a career to repay it before most have had any noteworthy bills or jobs....

And I don’t sweat every last program being perfectly efficient or entirely fair to me. I’ll win some, I’ll lose some, and no program will ever be a perfect solution- just look for it to be generally sound.

But 50k per person sure is a ton of money to throw at a problem without actually addressing the cause of the issue in any way.

The amount of punishing responsible behavior and rewarding bad behavior these people propose is staggering. Of course, the absurdity is compounded by the fact that they want to use our money, rather than their own, to do it.

Fixing the symptom and not the cause. What incentive does this provide to higher education to give better product for a cheaper price? None. This will only cause education costs to go up even further because every frickwad is going to take out a student loan now

I wonder what happens for people who refinanced or consolidated their student loans with a third party compan

The article says that it doesn’t impact private loans. What they should really do is lower the high interest rate on Fed loans which is usually the reason people refinance with a third party.

It’s a resolution calling on Biden to forgive the debt via Executive Order

I don’t think it will happen either. But I suppose it puts pressure on Biden to give out more than the 10k they were talking about.

If anything, I think they settle on 10. I don't think Biden is ok with 50K. That's freaking crazy

Poor little Andrea working at Starbucks will only have $150K more to go to pay off that theatre degree from Columbia after the forgiveness kicks in.

The Democrats are hell bent at destroying our economy
