It changes more than daily, because the state backlogs so much info

Most recent update still shows a plateauing of Rt, and its been 4 days since any rise. So still positive news

Only the trend is useful for day to day measurements, because when you look tomorrow even the previous days numbers can change due to backlogging of case dates

Teedy & Dr. Jen do not approve of these numbers.

Another thing of note. The reproduction value is 60% higher than the winter wave, yet the hospitalization rate is lower

this tracks with the general tendencies of viruses. Generally speaking, mutations usually move toward less deadly and more viral.

I was surprised how many states are already trending back down from your link. Quite a few are essentially already over delta.

Do you have the data from the previous surges in July and Dec/Jan so we can compare? Mainly curious is this one is following a similar trend as the others.

ETA: never mind I found it in the link provided. This was much more similar to the original hit in March as far as the Rt data; however, much less hospitalizations probably bc many folks have been vaccinated especially the high high risk folks.

I heard a doctor on WWL earlier when I ran to pick up lunch saying he expected this to go into October

With everything we've seen with previous waves and what happened in India/UK with Delta, that seems pretty incorrect, no? I would think hospitalizations should top-out here soon

It's in his link. This wave is higher than both of those waves, but not even close to the initial hit back in april '20.

The July '20 wave topped around around 1.35; the Jan'21 wave around 1.25.

Yep, this thing is far more contagious than the summer 2020 and winter 2020 spikes, roughly 60% more so
