Yeah no doubt. I’m not belittling it. Gustav is why I laugh at people who talk about how they stayed through a storm and it was nothing. The vast majority of people who actually stayed through hurricane force winds will never do it again.

Laura was a Cat 1 when it went over us. My house was creaking and I could hear things hitting the sides. Many houses had trees on or completely through them and we lost power for 9 days. I can't imagine staying for anything stronger than that.

Gustav was through Houma in 12 hours. Daytime storm. I think it moved through fast.

Bigfishchoupique is staying right here in Bayou Blue.

I have the boat gassed up and if I don’t blow away I’ll be fishing as soon as this shite blows through. They always bite when the barometric pressure is low.

What is the topographical make-up of the Yucatan Peninsula? That area has to be facing major landslide threats after the passing of these two storms.

Thanks... I was hoping maybe it was a slow mover. With Delta, it seems like it will be a fast mover as well

every now and again I'll go to that archive and read the Katrina updates just to remind myself of what was in 2005

It really depended on the region. We had power back in 6 hours for Andrew and I remember walking around the backyard because it was borderline sunny. Gustav was so much worse, especially with the tree damage.

I was without power for about 17 days for both...highland rd BR

And for Slack the first comment on the video is a wish cast into Houston.

These people secretly want it to hit them. It's wanting tragedy for sympathy or in other words to feel special, like the light is shining on them. Sickening.

Not very mountainous, at least nothing like Cuba. Particularly where it will pass over.

lawn darts

I actually have an old, original set of lawn darts packed away somewhere. They are the real deal with metal tips, death, and lawsuits included.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I see the range of intensity at landfall is TD to a weak Cat 3 and making landfall 120 hours from 1 am this morning:
