Sympathies for those of you with no lectric. Mine went out at 4 am but was back on by 9am. Pointe Coupee Electric is the tits. Small organization but really good.

Hope y’all get restored tonight.

At least y’all didn’t have to watch LSU get beat today.

Hope this hurricane season is over fricking sick of it. LSU sucks, Saints suck, and every tropical system wants to find a way to skull frick Louisiana. Not sure who pissed in what cornflakes but the GOM is closed for the rest of the year.

I got some pretty strong gusts yesterday all the way in Northshore. It was way worse than Laura. Just got power back on.

Vermilion y’all have slemco or entergy? We’re not up yet. Pool house is nice though and cool — and I didn’t have to watch that abomination of a game so ..

And is 167 open? Any idea?

So my roof lost a single shingle (architectural). Should I go ahead and make a claim to have an adjuster come look at it? I’m assuming if a shingle blew off there’s probably some other damage I can’t see. Roof is probably 12 years old

In BR. Made it through the storm without losing power. 30 minutes ago, a tree cutting truck driving through the neighborhood clips a power line, gets out, looks at it, then drives away.

Here in South BR - lost power around 11p. Around 2a a large tree fell on the lines connected to our house.

Power returned at 2p but lines are still pinned down to the ground in the yard. Entergy has it in queue but said “y’all just steer clear.” Uh, yeah.

I was talking to an old school guy once who worked with AT&T (frick them). But this guy was an installer on anything to do with a pole. He and a younger guy were working an installation for my aunt. It was a day with off and on storms/lightning that had them sitting around talking more than working. Old guy was telling stories about going to work just about every hurricane recovery over the past 20+ years. He said he always carried a contactless voltage meter to check everything. He said he saw a guy touch an iron fence that had limbs and debris on it and get lit up. I don't remember if he said the guy died. Another was where a shed had been and there was nothing but a piece of conduit sticking up that evidently had been a hookup for a washer/dryer in the shed. It was live and could have gotten someone.

All that to say that what you just described is one of the most dangerous threats post-storms. Electricity don't play.

Just a reminder that Entergy outage map is not accurate and don’t go running back right away thinking power is back on.

My street has no power but is showing green; maybe it means something other than power on?

I seem to have come through pretty clean.

Live up in an old neighborhood on the outskirts of Central, nothing to brag about but it's quiet.

We lost power a couple hours Thursday while we were getting 7+ inches of rain, and I figured that was going to be a bad start to this.

Turns out, that was the bulk of MY damage. I got some debris beating up my roof, nothing visible or leaking but I'll get someone out to look at a new roof. Sprung a leak on my back patio area, that's it.
*Wonder if I can get away with the hailstorm from earlir this year...*

Power is on, my son said it blinked out a minute this afternoon but came right back. I suspect that was Entergy cutting it briefly.
I heard a crash during the gusts, there's a big tree down a few houses South of me. And another at the end of the street.
I have 3 big oaks by the house, to the South no less. They drops a lot of small branches but nothing big enough to inflict damage.
Had some drips during the deluge Thursday, a closer look showed it was the ridge vent. Never had a problem Friday.

My roof base is tongue and groove pine instead of plywood, I think that saved some damage from the falling branches.

I just figured it’d be cleared by now.

We have a few small pieces of shingles missing. I should have called insurance/a roofer after the hailstorms in the spring. Not sure who to trust — Ins will day you don’t need a roof and roofer will say you need a roof.
