Are you asking for a breakdown of what all that means?

let me try to put that in idiot's terms

the storm is at its best when the eyewall completely circles the eye

winds in the SE part of the storm have been stopping it from getting that complete circle

it finally achieved that complete circle earlier today... but that SE side was fragile... and it has collapsed again

hopefully that means the storm won't be able to strengthen much more... or perhaps even start weakening... because of it

Are you sure? The sat I just checked on tropical tidbits did not have a defined eye right before night.

In that update with Jack Sillin he showed a graphic that I am going to have to find.

It shows how much the windfield has grown, going back to before landfall on the Yucatan. It has significantly grown, and as a result, so too has the storm surge threat.

Hurricanes that don't have a full developed ring of storms around the center will tend to fire storms and have them wrap around in more of a pulsing fashion vs being steady with it.

When there's shear, they tend to fire those storms on the side opposite the shear and wrap it around toward the side the shear is coming from. By the time it gets around, it can fade until the storm does this enough to make a strong ring of storms and maintain it.

What I'm getting at is I think the little bit of SW shear that's present has ended up having the SE side not being consistently strong.

This means the eyewall can't "close" for long, having a consistent ring of strong storms that it must have to get stronger than it is now.

There’s a lot of convection firing off in the center of the storm on the last frame of IR

One of my friends left his house in South LC at 1pm. Took him 2 hours to get on I-10 and he's between Orange and Beaumont now

It did earlier too when it closed off the eyewall for a bit.

Doing it again would probably have the eyewall close off again, and open the door for more strengthening for a bit tonight.

It also means that downshear game from earlier has been fighting the effect of the light shear there little by little.

Whats up with everyone leaving LC for Houston area. Everyone knows this not turning and coming right over Houston. First time I'm ever hearing of people evacuating TO the hurricane.
