So bad news LC guys - Delta being slightly weaker has it moved west on the 18z GFS by about 20-30 miles.

Which is odd because I’ve heard time and time again that weaker means more East. But really, look at this landfall and look at the NHC landfall. It is negligible. At this point every model will be 10 miles this way or 10 that. They shouldn’t be “trending” any direction unless something crazy happens.

Why do I have the strangest feeling this storm is going to do some major movement off track tonight?

Very very very unlikely.

Storm is making landfall in either Cameron, Vermilion, or Iberia Parish (Marsh Island) at this point

None of that quote is about wind speed.

Just to give everyone an idea of the damage we haven't recovered from yet. This is an aerial shot of Lake Charles. Look at the blue tarps on all those roofs!

We got Rummy and Fred in here mushroom stamping people.

ETA: Looking at that picture up there with the blue tarps made me think of something I never considered. Are the tarps that standard blue color so aerial surveys can easily determine the progress being made?

It's negligible in the grand scheme of things, but it's relevant to the thread.

Slightly weaker storms basically make less drastic turns. It's why open waves travel around the equator all the time, but start to gain latitude as they develop. The stronger and deeper a storm, the more it feels the steering currents.

Just ask your mo...

lol...

I'm not salty. I'm witty and humorous. And I despise slackster. I picture him as a 125 lb. weather geek who actually works at a used video game store. I bet he smells like Monster and bad air freshner.

The bright side I guess is that you get to file another insurance claim.

No way someone in the government thought that far ahead.

ETA - looked it up and the blue is based on a color coding system for the quality of the tarp. Blue is the lightest weight, typically.
