Wut?

Based on current track, Delta coming in between Lafayette and Lake Charles.

Gustav was basically direct hit to BR.

And you believe we should expect the same wind speeds?

Like I said depending on where it ends up, I think it could be a similar experience, yea.

I am extremely hopeful it will not be...

Yes. I actually went to the NHC site and looked at the interactive map. And looked at the 10 am track and the 1 pm. If anything it looks the same. Sorry that I’m not seeing it.

They were referring to the EURO run being east of its previous run.

Yes thank you. I’m just trying to follow the most realistic track they think this will take. I’m terrified of hurricanes and the NE quadrant because of Tornados so I’m just trying to see if I want to take my kiddos and head out of BR.

how much will dry air will compromise the storm as it makes landfall?

Dry air, shear and colder SST will all be affecting it on final approach. How much will it weaken? Who knows

Yes it will be a Gustav for someone but right now it doesn’t look like Baton Rouge.

don't let those pesky 85 miles of land it went thru first stop you tho

Of course there is, idiot. I'm talking about relative to where the storm is passing after it makes land.

Will this be Lafayette’s Gustav? I still think record sustain winds for Lafayette dates back to Hurricane Audrey in ‘57.

So if you were going to evacuate from south of Lafayette, would you go to Texas? I’m only asking as my in-laws are wanting us to go there with them and my argument against it is that it would be a nightmare getting back here on I 10 through Lake Charles.

I10 will be open within like 24 hours of landfall.

Gustav passed about 40 miles west of BR. Currently, Delta is estimated to pass about 60 miles west of BR, at a similar strength.

If the track shifts 20 miles east, it could absolutely be likened to Gustav. As others have noted, however, this storm is moving much more quickly than Gustav. So the duration of sustained winds will be lower.

I guess I’m just thinking about coming back and the amount of traffic — people I thought reported it took forever to get to LC from BR.

This would be 5 hours from here. And I’d be with the in-laws.

I know a black guy that died that way who worked for my former employer.

He fell through and trapped in the grain. Was alive for 45 minutes they had an air tube down to him but couldn’t pull him out. All the owner had to do was rip off the side of the bin with a backhoe to get him out but refused to do it because he didn’t want to ruin the grain bin. Then guy died cause he couldn’t breathe due to pressure on his chest, and they had to tear down the bin anyways to get the body out

please tell me the boss had charges brought against him. or was at least sued

I hear ya. Just saying, he specifically framed the question considering it stayed on it's current path.

It's all good though.
