The Superior Canal on the Cameron parish-Vermilion line looks like will be forecasted ground zero. Due to it’s NE approach, it will send a bigger Surge than Rita into Lower Vermillion and Iberia? Pecan Island and Intracoastal city will get plowed

Gustav passed about 40 miles west of BR. Currently, Delta is estimated to pass about 60 miles west of BR, at a similar strength.
If the track shifts 20 miles east, it could absolutely be likened to Gustav. As others have noted, however, this storm is moving much more quickly than Gustav. So the duration of sustained winds will be lower.
Delta is moving faster, and it's also taking an angle that is more favorable to Baton Rouge than Gustav, if the current path of Delta is compared to Gustav's ultimate path.

They were referring to the EURO run being east of its previous run.
Probably because it “caught up” to the others with respect to landfall intensity.
949mb right before landfall is by far the strongest we’ve seen from the Euro, and a stronger (taller) storm feels the steering the most.
Euro is coming in gangbusters on wind too. 130+ gusts near the coast and this a few hours after landfall.

Other than Delta hitting the coast going ENE and Gustav hit the coast going NW

That will be a record sustainable wind for Lafayette if the model holds true.

This storm is forecast to move very similarly to the Gustav speed. Idk how the Gustav was slow myth started.
