So he’s correct no matter how many miles in between as the eye passed very close to BR

Pretty saturated there in the eye. Not surprising with a 980 mb storm.
Windfield has expanded some but nothing impressive there. I see a Cat 1 hurricane there. Overall it's reasonably healthy for coming off land and should start some slow intensification as it moves farther away from land into the open water.

Hard to tell. Current track puts 40 - 60 mph winds with stronger gusts. Under normal circumstances, not too bad. But who knows now with the fragile infrastructure we have in place now No risk of surge though. Guess that is a good thing.

This could have the potential to be worse for BR than Gustav, or better.
The little bit extra speed Delta has seems negligible.

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your implication, but getting smacked on the eastern side of Delta if it moves ENE up through, say, upper St Martin would be just as shitty of a track.

Gustav put 80mph wind gusts in BR and knocked most of the area out of power.... so i wonder why...

I would imagine flying debris will be the biggest issue. Or trees that only partially fell now going all of the way.
It was a beautiful morning this morning and easy enough to ignore the storm. Now, not so much. I'm getting deja vu all over again.
Btw, I evacuated to Bay St. Louis following Laura and was there when Sally was threatening that area. So I've been on three separate storm watches this season. It is literally exhausting and depressing and not good for my liver.
