Infrastructure wise is there a better place?

...no

We're between two levee systems with nearly every home built above flood elevation.

There's probably 300k acres or so which are designed to flood by mother nature.

Doesn't mean I have to like it.

The 975mb central pressure the NHC gave on this 1pm update might be a tad high based on recon. NHC going with 100mph winds now.

Slack gets your post in while you can because it’s looking more and more like I won this bet.

What does the color coding respond to? One would think wind speed, but doesnt really make sense for wind speeds seen so far

Flight level wind speeds. Note the legend on the bottom of the chart.

Meaning it's actually stronger than their 1pm update?

I'll be busy helping folks clean up once this storms passes regardless, and as I mentioned early on, "losing" was good for mi casa.

Plus, Marsh Island may still snipe it.

No, lower pressures are stronger storms. The 1PM update had 975mb, but the recon pass is probably closer to 979-980mb.

Yes, I misread your post as the 975mb was a tad high, meaning the actual is a lower mb and therefore stronger.

Recon observations indicate that #Delta was knocked down a bit by passing over land, as expected. Pressure is in ballpark of ~975 mb & max winds ~75-80 mph TCs need time after land passage to "reset" thermodynamically. Only a slow restrengthening rate rest of today seems likely

From levi. That’s got to be good news, right? Was the slow strengthening today forecasted?

So if you were going to evacuate from south of Lafayette, would you go to Texas? I’m only asking as my in-laws are wanting us to go there with them and my argument against it is that it would be a nightmare getting back here on I 10 through Lake Charles.
