can promise you that is incorrect... there are recordings up to 156. I’ll see if I can find
Look up the palm tree project. Recorded above 150mph in Cameron

There are probably less than 50 people on this entire site that have experienced sustained hurricane winds. Of those, I’d be surprised if more than 10 would say they’d do it again.
If I was in BR during Katrina or Andrew, am I one of the 50?

Let’s talk about Laura - highest sustained wind in Lake Charles, that I could find, was 86 mph. 128 mph gust.
How about Sally? Highest sustained wind was 81 mph on Dauphin Island and 75 mph at Orange Beach.
When I say riding out sustained hurricane force winds, I mean the real thing. Not some gust here and there. People tend to greatly overestimate how bad the conditions are around them - see Gustav and BR residents, for example.
The plant i work at had gust at 75 feet off the ground of 164 mph, This is in LC.
I have seen video of those that stayed on tugs for my buddies company, the gauges were reading 125 plus sustained just south of LC in Hackberry area. I can't verify but some reported gust over 180, like I said I can verify the first claim as I watched the video, not the second.
Not trying to argue, but what you are saying might be the official, but plenty of wind gauges were much higher.

Did Gustav have sustained hurricane winds in BR?
No.
No just some gust and it fricked BR up. Which is why I think this storm deserves the attention and concern for BR residents

Yeah, grew up in JDP. The accident would have been almost 40 years ago now
he died before i was born. i imagine it would be older than that. 2 of his siblings were named mike and emelie
if those 2 names ring a bell, then we're related

These threads are really not that hard to wade through....
Exactly. The experts aren't going to give a prediction so if you come looking for that you will be waiting the whole time.
Just read what the NHC says and make your decision.

Mind telling me what MPH Rita brought with it south of Abbeville?
Johnson’s Bayou recorded 66kt sustained, so I’d imagine Vermilion Parish didn’t see any sustained hurricane winds.

Checking in as a Hurricane force wind survivor. Ft Morgan, AL for Hurricane Sally. Also Ft Morgan AL Hurricane Nate. Sally brought a 121 mph gust. I can show you the houses in the path of that gust. Well actually just the stilts, the house itself just crumbled.

I mean... I generally enjoy most of your posts. But how does this prove your point at all? Hurricane 1 is 74mph sustained... so all 3 of those places experienced greater than that.

His number of 50 people may be too low, but his premise is right
99% of people in south la think they have rode out true hurricane sustained winds, of that 99% maybe 0.5% are correct

WHY CANT WE HAVE TWO HURRICANE THREADS. ONE FOR THE PEOPLE WITH KNOWLEDGE TO SHARE AND ONE FOR THE SAME QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER/BICKERING/IDIOTS

This is correct. Buoy in the lake south of LC lost communication after a reading at 180
