Might reopen the Rathskeller. Bring back the glory days.
lol, jk of course.
I like Morgan City. Lived there in the early 90s. I live in Charenton now and still drive there for Dannys.

Let’s talk about Laura - highest sustained wind in Lake Charles, that I could find, was 86 mph. 128 mph gust.
How about Sally? Highest sustained wind was 81 mph on Dauphin Island and 75 mph at Orange Beach.
When I say riding out sustained hurricane force winds, I mean the real thing. Not some gust here and there. People tend to greatly overestimate how bad the conditions are around them - see Gustav and BR residents, for example.

Nothing like a TD family reunion. Add some music, turn it into a video, and it could be a FB tear jerker.

I think it’s about time to make this the idle chatting thread and have another just for the Met guys to post in.
Any people coming for info have to wade through 4-5 pages of bullshite banter between a few posters. Eventually they just post their dumb question after getting tired of looking.

I might have for Cindy. Even if it was 'only' 65-70 gusting to 80 or 90, it was plenty enough.
If anyone wants to get an idea of how strong a true 75 mph wind is, just stick your arm out of your window next time you are driving 75 on the interstate and then imagine your whole body being out of the window.

My uncle also died in a grain bin. It was rice though

Yeah, grew up in JDP. The accident would have been almost 40 years ago now

Sweet Jesus...it’s a Louisiana based message board. Are you serious?
Double it then.
Now tell me which storm you rode out and where. I stand by my statement. Not a lot of folks have done it on this board. A frick ton think they have though.

This is one of the more idiotic things I’ve seen in this thread

Talked to a meth head who rode out Laura over in Port Sulphur. Stayed in a single wide mobile home and actually had a tree fall on one end and destroy half the house during the storm. She survived (obviously) but said never again.
No pics because, well, she had meth mouth.

Evacuated New Orleans about 12 hours before Katrina made landfall. The plan was to stop and pick up my aunt and uncle in Kiln and head to Florida to meet the rest of the family. We never made it out of Kiln.
If I were to stay again in a cat3 or greater, it would be in a concrete building, not a 1500 s/f home surrounded by pines.

Mind telling me what MPH Rita brought with it south of Abbeville?
