All that dropsonde and balloon data into the 00z GFS and it's going to come in like 3 hours faster and with 30 miles of the "dumb" run at 18z.

NWS sent out a plane to take observations of the ridge in the eastern GOM. Also released a handful of balloons on land to get better observations of the trough coming from the west.

Good for the Yucatan. If they can get it while it is going through an EWRC and before it reforms an eye, is the best case scenario for them right now.

Doesn't seem to have been a big miss on the ridge location like it was with Laura. Looks like they tried to head that issue off early.
