Man, I’m sorry for you guys in BR, but I live in LC and can’t imagine taking another storm right now. Even this half of an M shift eastward has me feeling a little better tonight.
I love Lake Charles and I suffered a bit from Laura, but, I don't think that this current track is very reliable right now. It could still hit very close to Lake Charles, I think, in my totally untrained opinion.

David Bernard just showed that the most recent hurricane hunter found a max surface wind of 104 mph.
The NHC does admit the 130 MPH in the 10 p.m. advisory might be, well, let's say a little inflated.

The central pressure has risen somewhat and the current intensity estimate, 115 kt, is probably generous based on flight-level and SFMR-observed surface winds from the NOAA plane.

Hurricane threads get lit AF every 6 hours for the new full advisories and track shift.

I have a notion in my totally untrained head that the track forecast is not very reliable now and won't be until AFTER Delta has passed the Yucatan.
This track is higher confidence than normal but since it matters a lot for us exactly where it goes in, the track isn't going to be that on the money yet. Just take the cone for now but with the idea there's a higher probability for either Lafayette or Baton Rouge to take the brunt vs parts east or west but nowhere in southern Louisiana should consider themselves safe just yet.
It's still a matter of if you're in the cone, you could possibly see the center.

Wife wanted to know why I was so excited to let the puppy out to pee at 3:50 AM and I said:
“4AM advisory in the Hurricane thread Baw”
She wasn’t amused

I'd get pretty peppered by that path. Just on the eastern eyewall.

Slack- maybe it is weaker, gets pulled East more, loses strength over cold waters, and we do JoJos on Saturday night?

It’s been trying for over 24 hours. It will happen eventually I’d imagine:

So Bobby, did they ever catch that coonass who sold Louisiana to the devil so LSU would win the National Championship?

Land interaction with a storm that is already well put together doesn't really change much.
If it was poorly structured you could see a mess after landfall that ultimately reorganizes in a different center location or something, but Delta is only going to spend about 12 hours or so over land. It won't have much of an impact.

Surprising.
Though I'll note they also comment on eye and character this VDM. Open to the north but a nice circular eye. It's stuck in pause on strength, of course, until it closes that eyewall off.

So anyone got an idea of as to when they'll issue the emergency alerts? I wanna make sure my phone isn't next to my ear.
