I understand not wanting strange dogs around, but to shoot your neighbor’s dog? Especially one that was probably friendly? Dude’s a piece of shite.

the dog was constantly in the mans yard not hurting anyone but making his beagles bark especially at night.

If this is true (big if here) what is the guy to do? He has an inconsiderate neighbor who won’t control his dog, and it’s a persistent nuisance. Assume he’s already complained, and nothing has been done. He could call the authorities and get a citation issued to the owners. But what if he already tried that? Eventually he’d have to do SOMETHING to stop it.

I didn’t read the article. Maybe he tried none of this, and he went right to shooting the dog. As a last resort, I would kill the dog, but not before I ran out of options.

I have always had dogs and I love dogs. But, letting your dogs loose you go s*** in your neighbor's yards is rude and lazy. I have a fenced backyard because I don't want a bunch of dog s*** in my front yard. Why would you think I want your dog s*** in my front yard?

On clip from Vermilion Today and one is comments under the same article on the KATC Facebook page.

Vermilion Today says she said one thing and she said another under the Katc Facebook page about the Vermilion today story under comments. They do not seem to match up.

Another short cut same thing Vermilion Today says she said one thing and she commented on the Katc Facebook page under the same article saying another thing.

Which statement is the truth?
The one printed in Vermilion Today and her comments on the Katc Facebook page under the same story do not seem to be the same.

What if the guy is correct and the dog attacked him?

Is that being a FPOS to protect yourself from a dog not one of us at this time can prove was not attempting to attack him?

Yet a lady who has admitted to
- letting her dog out violating the state leash law.
- Has a story written about the incident where one newspaper says she said one thing about that man and she contradicts it on a Facebook page about the same article.

- has a man charged for something at this point we do not know if he is guilty or innocent of the charges.

Seems to me that if I was in his shoes I would fight back hard civilly and ask she be charged for a violation of the law she admitted to committing.

Just because it use to the family does not mean it could have been hostile toward other people.

She was irresponsible pet owner who put this man the situation that he is in. She needs to bear some criminal and civil penalties also.

Fence or running chain. Keep your dog in your own yard. I understand an occasional escape, but, 29 out of 30 days the dog needs to stay in its own yard.

The only reason you should ever shoot a dog is to put it down due to old age or sickness. Everything else is unacceptable. Jail time please

So it is ok that.

- owner admitted in one newspaper article violating a leash law letting her dog roam free was a problem by saying her husband apologized to the dog owner.

Facebook post of her again changes this story slightly.

- She did nothing to fix the problem and still violated state law allowing her animal to roam free.

- Her dog supposed died by a bullet from someone who supposedly claims her dog attacked him.

- She thinks she has been wronged even though she knew this problem existed and she did nothing about it.

Who is in the wrong?

Shouldn’t the person who knew or assumed by the article that her dog was a problem fix the problem?

What if that was a child walking their dog and this dog got in a fight with that dog causing injuries to that child?

What if that dog attacked a child?

She did not seem to care as she knew of the problem yet did nothing about it.

This is true regarding the temperament, but the owner is irresponsible AF if she let it out everyday without a leash or fence .
