No, that's defining five as a quantity and a specific quantity equal to the number of fingers on a typical hand or number of members on a basketball team.

That’s like defining “pen” as “The thing I put inside this box. I know I put a pen in here, so therefore I can define ‘pen’ as the thing inside this box.”

5 exists even if hands did not, just as “pen” exists even if it’s not inside the box. Define 5 for what it actually is.

This is the easiest thing in the book. It’s the largest odd number you can count using all fingers and phalange a solitary time.
