spent the last 2 hours clearing off 2 driveways and a walkway. Don't think I've ever broken a sweat in 33 degree weather. This was a first.

It’s actually not bad outside with no wind in the sun

Yea with no wind it feels really nice outside. Road in front of my house is completely clear from all the 4 wheeler and side by side traffic
rednecks doing work.

Went and checked my attic because of some of the reports on here. I have a ridge vent and a gable vent on the North and South side of my house. Thankfully my gable vents have a mesh screen over them so I was all clear.

I just drove about 7 miles in the Kenner Metaririe area. Wasn’t too bad, but I never got above 20 mph and tried to stay in the cleared ruts of previous drivers.
To my untrained understanding, tomorrow early morning may end up being worse for driving do the the snow melt forming into slick ice.

I hope everyone made it through safely with no busted pipes and loss of power.
I was doubly prepared this time but thankfully nothing happened.

I’ve found a push broom works pretty well.

Yeah roads are really clearing up around BR and should be totally fine by tomorrow. I know i'll likely get downvotes on this because people do not want to go back to work but it is true.
Lol no they won’t. We still have snow on the ground from almost two weeks ago.

need this sun to hit the north end of my roof so that can start melting. South facing side and west side is almost all gone now

My north side held very little snow because north wind didnt let it collect

I barely missed a disaster last night- as my oldest was going to bed, he mentioned he needed to turn the dripping outside faucet back on ….!!!
I guess he has playing with the faucet and tuners it off- anyway, the faucet was frozen so i took my propane torch to thaw out the pipes…it was close - I’m glad i did it

it was coming from the more northwesterly direction over this way.
I've also got very, very steep and tall roofline.

You have been running outside faucets? I thought the consensus was to cover and not drip outside

Down in da Parish they using bulldozers to try to clear main roads.
In our hood some people driving trucks which is breaking up snow and ice in street.but no chance this clears / dries completely by tonight so if it gets down to 24 it will absolutely freeze over.
Thankful for a good day of sun though

Similar, but my gable vents with mesh screens are on the east & west sides.
And while my ridge vent has angled baffles in it, within the first year of moving in I noticed that crap like catkins from the oak trees and "propeller" seeds from other trees were getting blown off of the roof and into the attic past those baffles. I had the builder come in and in the long dead center gap of the ridge vent he put an air filter material similar to the kind used in HVAC ventilation (about an inch thick). Never had any issues after that, and no issues at all with snow being blown in during this event.

To my untrained understanding, tomorrow early morning may end up being worse for driving do the the snow melt forming into slick ice.
With this large amount of snow, the clearing of those ruts can create a wall of slushy snow on either side of the clear ruts, like a river of asphalt flowing between snow levees.
Those slushy snow levees will turn into solid ice overnight. Anyone driving in the early part of the day tomorrow should be aware that crossing over those mounds of ice can be a little tricky.
