It’s in federal court so they may have trouble doing that but you never know these days.

Just finished.
What was up with his coworkers allegedly turning his office upside down for a will but then his kids finding right away visible inside of his desk drawer? Weird.

Federal is just as bad because its federal which by its very nature is slower when it comes to civil suits along with the MMM that Smith's lawyers will undoubtedly play.

It sounds "funny" but the truth is that in NO East as well as a whole lot of black areas don't really want to screw with a white dude.
Kill a white guy....especially one like Cucchiara and you get to much cop presence and usually they tear up the neighborhood. The criminal element in the area does not want that kind of heat and neither do the locals... generally.
This was a hit.Still would like more details about Angus from Biloxi. Biloxi people and unexplained murders tend to equal Dixie Mafia being involved.

No grew up in New Orleans East. And it's not false. Talk to black people in those neighborhoods. Dead white guys = cops. Cops in the area leads to a lot of problems .
Born in Auckland to an American father and a New Zealand mother. Dad's family is full of retired NOPD ....cousin was an Lt with them up until 2015. He believes this was a hit .....the Detectives on the scene thought it was a hit. Rich white guy nice car.....38 so no shells expelled. Car was not taken.....keys in his hand .

Well the “don’t really want to screw with a white dudes” versus “kill them” is maybe where we got hung up. Black dudes in the hood will commit armed robbery on white dudes in a New York second

Can someone explain how he ended up in NO East in regard to real estate in Lafayette?
Posted on 5/17/23 at 10:05 pm to AFistfulof$
The thought is someone called that morning and asked him to go look at a property in the East.
I like the show but I the host immediately jumps something being suspicious and weird if she can’t explain it. It’s not strange that some people may not want to be interviewed for a pod cast.

Yeah they have no qualms about an armed stick up, but killing a white dude or really harming them badly....like shooting them is bad for the neighborhood....and "business".
Really though Cucchiara was killed at the perfect time of day to shoot someone. 1030 in the morning. People at work, kids in school, residential for the most part. Location, shielded from a highly traveled corridor like Chef Hwy behind a convenience store. Slightly away from the leasing office. It's a pretty good scenario for a hit. Shooter could do the deed be picked up by an accomplice on Papania and turn onto Chef with a good bit of traffic in no time and be past the light at Read heading towards the high rise area in 2-3 minutes...especially at that time of day.

It is all way too convenient for a random robbery in the East. The former maintenance guy who said that there was really no one around there who would do that was believable. Of course, he can't know for sure but I would bet he had a decent grasp on the regulars in the area.
I am not done yet but the looming deposition seems to be the real motive.

There is enough smoke to believe this was a hit, and a cover-up. Its very plausible considering who Bruce was involved with. NOPD sucks, but for a case like this, it was clearly a decision to not investigate it as thoroughly as they obviously should have.

Below is a link to the case timeline on the CC website.
Timeline
They don't know who sent him there. The consensus was that he was looking for an address (that didn't exist) for a property that he or someone he was working for wanted to purchase.

5 million usually is good motive. But, also Caruso-Riecke would say what's my motivation? I just made 36 million on the sale of the water company....I'm not gonna sweat a payout of 1.5 million if orderd to. Plus he was worth upwards of 50 - 60 million at the time reportedly
However it could have been all on paper at the time. He could have taken a bath on the sale. I am curious about some debts listed in the secession. The 662K promissory note signed a few weeks before and the 2 million+ it is also said he owed Riecke.
Delia drops a whole lot of balls in her dive. Still don't get what he was doing in the East at the time. Mark VII is just simply not worth all that much money. The property across the street on Papania ..... probably less. I wonder if that deposition could have opened up a can of worms.....in the end, the other guy got zeroed out. But Cucchiara was hit. Someone had a beef with him....or Riecke.

Anyone familiar with the area could have told you that the address given was in a shite area in 2012. You say to anyone familiar with NOLA. " Papania and Chef in New Orleans East" They would tell you it's not worth your time.

Bruce wasn't an ideal citizen. It's known in Covington that he signed off on bad loans for a little cut of the pie. He also was a terrible family man. I feel bad for the kids, but they don't know the whole truth or they don't want to acknowledge it.
Little harsh IMO. Obviously made big mistakes in his personal life, not the first to have these issues. Loving father that spent thousands of hours coaching baseball and basketball in town. One of the best coaches I ever had. Fun guy. A real shame what happened, no matter what the true story is.

His son played basketball for the Ragin Cajuns. I think maybe under Jesse Evans?
