quote:

A Bayou La Batre man who was given the death penalty after throwing his four children off a bridge in 2008 had his sentenced reduced Monday to life without a parole after two independent psychologists said that his IQ did not meet the state minimum to be executed.

quote:

Lam Luong, 38, who born in Vietnam before moving to the United States as a teenager, was present in court when the new sentence was handed down.

District Attorney Ashley Rich, who was visibly shaken while reading a press release at Government Plaza late Monday afternoon, said that "no one deserves the death penalty more" than Lam Luong.

quote:

"Our hands are tied," she added, while citing state and federal laws that prohibit executing a person with an IQ of lower than 70 points. To do so would be considered cruel and unusual punishment, as outlined in the 8th Amendment.

This sickens me

Can't you tank your IQ evaluation, act dumb?

Need to slowly roast his arse. Then keep him alive as all his burned skin is abraded.

Then dip him in lemon juice.

Then ants

His iq is low because he's esl and probably can't comprehend half that shite on paper.

His arse needs to burn.

I'm absolutely certain he threw his IQ test to get his sentence commuted. He should be under secret observation to monitor his behavior and if it aligns with someone who has a 70 IQ. Reminds me of the Edward Norton movie Primal Fear.

This is infuriating. I remember this vividly. He was in a fight with his wife, so to hurt her, he drove their 4 kids to the top of the Dauphin Island Bridge and one-by-one threw them over.

That bridge is so tall that I get weak-knees in a car driving over it. I couldn’t imagine being a little kids and my father throwing my brothers and sisters over the side and then throwing me over.

Ashley Rich is dead-on accurate. No one deserves the death penalty more than this person. We need him gone from this planet.

My only hope is that his reputation precedes him in Atmore.

What's cruel and unusual about killing someone who tossed 4 kids off a bridge?

I'm sorry I really don't care if he doesn't meet the state requirement. He deserves to die.

Life in prison without the possibility of parole is worse than the death penalty, IMO...

I disagree, they still get to enjoy some of the basic aspects of living life while in there such as exercising, free meals, get to work on small hobbies, etc.
