Yes, but I wasn't sure if posting his name here was allowed.

If he’s been charged it’s fair game. That Devin guy is posted all over the board for the CP charges

It was Jason Chaisson’s boat. And the girl reported deceased from his boat is Thuy Gustin. They have a go fund me page for her. Please everyone donate to assist in funeral costs

Didn’t realize another boat was involved

I agree. I am a conservative operator of a boat. But I follow the rules as I remember told to me by my Dad, his dad was an incensed captain. But I would imagine I screw up. Again I am very careful out there and don’t operate after drinking. But i bet I would learn stuff if I retook the boating course

I am by no means an expert, but growing up I’d go with my grandpa to run crab traps, hoop nets, frogging, ect as much as I could. Had a little John boat before I had a car, now get out there 10-12 times a year.

The amount of times I have hit a fully submerged log or lumber or whatever it may be I don’t see how any sane person goes over 10 at night.

The first time I was ever out alone rather late, looking for frogs. I was above an idle but no more than 10 mph and hit a log that caught my lower unit and it threw me almost completely over the steering wheel.

Everyone is spot on, boating licenses should be much harder to get…a drivers license for that matter as well. Way too many asshats out trying to impress their friends.

The issue here was likely involving speed and alcohol. No boating license will cover that or prevent that issue from
Happening again.

Everyone has a drivers license and people die every day from going to fast and being intoxicated.

*No doubt alcohol and speed above brain power.
**Auto insurance is a requirement, not so much for a boat.

How much does a 25' Sea Fox cost?

Why doesn't Jason pay for the funeral? After all, it was his carelessness that cause her death.

He may need the money for a defense attorney. I'd bet my left nut and a pint of blood he wasn't sober.

Ah yes. I just ordered two bottles of Gator Drool from him yesterday. I knew that name was familiar.

The guy was on the left tree line driving 54/mph at midnight this is absolutely wrong

Nor arguing here, just wondering how you came up with 54mph? That's a very specific number

Someone on that boat had life 360.

The mom of one of the other girls on that boat was saying her and the girl that died were telling the guy to slow down and didn’t listen to them. If you look between the news stations comments and Facebook comments and here you can piece it all together.

This guy was absolutely out of control.

He was a Sun Buns and BRB regular so it's almost certain that he was drinking before the accident.

I do not know if he was or wasn’t drinking.

I do know that we run around the lakes occasionally at all these places and that doesn’t mean that we are drinking.

You can boat ride and hang out at these places and not drink.

If he was legit drunk I'd bet people telling him "how to drive" just made him go faster. How much jail time is he looking at if he was indeed over the limit?

It does not have a license number. It is documentation that you have taken an approved boaters education course.

There is no Louisiana boating license available. Such a thing does not exist. There is no licensing requirement in order to operate a small recreational vessel in Louisiana.

Did he have a sixpack Coast Guard license, or were all his passengers his friends?
