The manufacturer of an amusement park ride that malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair in July said on Sunday that the deadly incident was caused by "excessive corrosion."

The Fire Ball ride collapsed on July 26, killing one person and injuring seven others. The ride consists of at least six rows of seats that spin around 40 feet above the ground as the entire structure moves like a pendulum.
A video posted online appears to show several people on the Fire Ball seconds before parts of the structure, including a full row of seats, split up and fell. The ride broke apart while in motion.

Another reason why I don't ride carnival rides. Can't trust carnies to take care of their shite.

Gonna be alot of corrosion in the bank account of the manufacturer and the fair when the lawsuits start soon.

How many fairs and carnivals do you go to? It's not that hard to avoid.

I have kids and they have never been to the BR State Fair or Blue Bayou. Never will either.

The fair can and should get hit hard, but I don't think the manufacturer is the blame if the carneys can't maintain their shite.

Unless the manufacturer sold it advertised as rust-proof or something otherworldly stupid like that.

Exactly, just because you have kids doesn't mean the fairs and carnivals in your area exponentially increase.

No, but they'll want to go to EVERY one of them that comes around.

I believe the lawyers will go after both just in the case with gun manufacturer's. People shoot people the lawyers usually go after the gun manufacturers also. Gun manufacturers don't pull the trigger people do

Some of the best times that a child can enjoy are at the local carnivals and fairs. It is festive and exciting for them and the workers are usually trained very well. Kids are treated like royalty. Food is generally not very expensive when considering it is usually higher quality than professional sporting event concessions. I know because I manage a traveling fair and we vet our ride hands and mechanics vigorously. It is not a job that is easy and there is a lot of time spent on the road but that is a price all of us are willing to make to be a part of the "show." Some of you should get a grip seeing that this was one isolated incident and not indicative at all of our entire industry. Don't allow fear to keep your kids from experiencing one of the benchmarks of childhood. We are here waiting to show them the time of their life!

So because you do it means that is the standard of most American families?

I don't give a frick what you or "most" (according to you) American families standards are. I do it because my kids will see enough trash in their lifetimes so no need to add a lot more. And so they also aren't tempted to climb aboard used tier 3 carnival rides maintained by carnies on loan from NASA.

Yeah, I can maybe understand specifically the BR state fair or Blue Bayou, but if he is mentioning both as a way to say "my kids have never been to a fair or any type of water park/amusement park and they never will" then I feel for his kids since they have a dad who thinks he is too "uppity" to do those things.

This is an absurd, funny, and depressing comment.
