Not sure why people are hating on this post. Lowering standards has already caused a crash in the US (Atlas Air 3591) and will cause another one in the future. People are lucky it didn’t last night.

i agree with you for sure, but the suspect here was a forty something white male - pretty much the prototypical airline pilot. wouldnt be surprised if he was a veteran or something too. i doubt this is ideologically driven and i doubt he is someone who benefitted from being "passed along" - dude probably had a mental breakdown or something.
but yes - as the years go by, we will continue to see more and more of a breakdown in the infrastructure of the country (and the west in general). complex systems cannot and will not survive the woke left.

what I meant by that is there are no longer stringent psych, background, and experience requirements for civilian pilots, if you are gay, lesbian, trans, or a minority, and can pass a piss test you will be hired, it’s the perfect storm to create an “air force” of 9/11 flight crews

The medical field is about to be wrecked once a lot of the older physicians retire. There are a lot of morons graduating from medical schools that have no business being doctors.

777 made a valid point about psyche evals and personality tests and shite like that that have been used historically to weed out the nutcases. a lot of that more subjective testing has been eliminated because it was weeding out the minorities. that could and would obviously result in some crazy white guys getting through too.
but, in the face of it, this just seems like a one-off

My guess is because the crew needs access to them in case the engines are on fire, but I'm no pilot.
