A Washington, D.C., man is fighting to keep the giant Transformers statues outside his home -- and he's involved actors from the franchise in his efforts.

Newton Howard, a renowned brain scientist, commissioned an artist to create the massive statues of Autobots Bumblebee and Optimus Prime from old car parts in January 2021, and the installation of the two Transformers sculptures quickly received complaints from neighbors.

quote:

"I understand that some people think these statues don't fit the character of the neighborhood, that they stand out like a sore thumb," Gilvezan told the committee. "First I resent being compared to a sore thumb. A healthy well-functioning thumb -- maybe. But a sore thumb -- never."

quote:

The Public Safety Committee ruled in favor of the neighbors, saying the statues should be removed, but Howard said he will continue to fight to keep the Autobots in place. He said he is prepared to take the case to court.

i’d enjoy all the uptight ahole neighbors melting about it as I feigned outrage, while also smirking from my tea room window.

Is that a phone in his pocket or does he like being photographed?

Put dresses and fake tits on them, then tell the neighbors the statues identify as pre-teen girls. He will likely get an award then.

The average Georgetown NIMBY loves to complain about students living nearby and making noise when the university has been there since *checks notes* 1789.

I'm sure they are having a meltdown about these.

Absolutely. I'd film as many Karens bitching about it as I could and make some money off of their pettiness.

Old baw should just tell them if they don't like those statues to pound sand or he'll stick a life sized Predaking in their place.

That would be a sight considering the guy playing Predator was also the same guy who played a Bigfoot in Harry And The Hendersons. He was like 7’2” without the other gear from the costume.
