Most of these clowns on here have never even seen a snatch, let alone had a daughter.

No one and i mean fricking no one on this site needs to know about your preteen daughter bleeding from her vagina. There's lotsa creepy frickers sexualizing an 11 year old girl right now and it's kinda grossing me out a little.

Yea you're post is a lot worse than the OP.

1. A dad asking about some advice on the internet about a sensitive subject.
2. You fantasizing about it and thinking other people are just as weird as you.

Only perverted sickos like you would think there is something inherently wrong with asking a question to a place with a lot fathers who have been through it to give advice.

I found the framing of the question a bit off-putting as it seemed OP was more worried about his own comfort and feelings than his daughter's.

I don't know OP though so have no reason to think that was his true intent. Guessing teh post was just spiced up a little to align with the general theme of this board. My daughter is around the same age and navigating a daughter's puberty as a father is a bit intimidating, so I empathize.

Brother, shake the haters. Like I said in my previous post, I had three daughters in my house. This is not some taboo topic and I find it god damn ridiculous that other males are acting like it is.

This board is 98% male and with that, you’re going to get a lot of opinions from a wide male demographic. I’m old enough to recognize that the general population of males are fricking retarded on a lot of subjects and views.

The men who deny that FACT are either too young or too stupid to understand the concept of adult, fatherly conversation.

Discussing the menstruation cycle or looking for advice concerning it for your daughter(s) is neither taboo or evil. This comes from a baptist father who hasn’t seen his daughters naked since they were potty trained and never allowed them to just hang around the house in their drawers.

I know this will be a rough time for her. I know she has a lot of questions. It's not something I can relate to, obviously. I know a lot of the conversation is going to be between her and her mother. A few months ago, her and my wife and a few of her friends and their moms did a class that talked about a lot of puberty topics.

I want to be there for her and support her while not weirding her out or making this a bigger deal than it needs to be. I know there is probably a 0.0 percent chance she ever comes to me with any questions about the female system other than a request to pick up pads on the way home, which I will do, obviously.

I honestly thought asking for advice - on how to be there for her, on how to handle this change as a dad - on a board like this, would be decidedly less "weird" than talking about it at the bar or at the sunday BBQ.

I have 2 girls and had nothing but sisters growing up. I guess I'm pretty desensitized to it as well

You'll figure it out like the rest of us. My wife handled the talk with my daughter about it beforehand.

You're still going to find yourself in a situation where mom isn't home and your kid is going to need you to run to the store for pads or Midol. You have to be approachable from that standpoint and not act like it's some kind of taboo thing. Otherwise I completely avoid the subject though

So sticking my fingers in my ears and saying "nah nah nah nah nah...." wasn't the correct approach?

See OP? Even at my age, I can learn something new.

If mom is around she handles it. I'd imagine there are some single dads out there that are in a different situation though.

I am not denying the fact. It's biology. I am familiar with how the reproductive system works.

I am well aware females start their menstrual cycle around the age of 12. Some start earlier, some start later.

And since hormones play a factor in a woman's menstrual cycle, when that time comes they can be emotional, etc, etc.

It's something girls can be embarrassed about when they first start.

I am not too young or too stupid, I just think it's not something you come to the OT to discuss, especially when it involves your daughter.

I was a single father. While I always had envisioned raising a son to be a star athlete, I instead experienced "the talk" and first bra shopping. You just parent as maturely and matter-of-fact when you are called upon. I wanted her to have me as a resource for knowledge, if not experience, since my parents had told me absolutely zero about anything.
